We hope to see you all on Monday but have heard of an impending Greek ATC strike from 20-24 June so who knows?! What a way to encourage tourism - particularly when it plays such a massive rôle in your country's income! Ho hum!

According to the "Greek strikes" website it should only affect internal flights, not international ones. pete

"The Federation of Civil Aviation unions have announced a 5 day strike from Monday 20 June to Friday 24 June 2016. There’s likely to be some disruption to a number of domestic and international flights in Greece, but it’s not yet clear which airports or services will be affected. If you’re due to travel in this period, contact your airline or travel company for more information."

I read that too, Pete, but another report implies that there will be a knock-on effect with international flights. Whether that includes direct charter flights to the islands is not so certain. I believe that the airport workers are objecting to what we thought was a done deal over Fraport’s takeover of fourteen regional airports, including Kapodistrias in Corfu.

Info on Jet2's Website....
20th - 25th June 2016 - Potential Greek Industrial Action
Jet2.com has been advised that there is potential industrial action being supported by both Air Traffic Control and Airport Services in Greece from 20th - 25th June 2016. This action could potentially affect all aircraft travelling to/from Greece, overflying the area and airport services (in Greece) such as baggage reclaim and security. At present we have limited information about this strike action, however advise any customers travelling on this day that Jet2.com will depart all flights to schedule and you are asked to arrive at your airport in plenty of time, allowing for increased queuing at Greek airports. Jet2.com will operate all flights on these days in line with normal check in closure and aircraft scheduled departure times. We also recommend that you are prepared for potential waiting times when on board your aircraft as we will also board all flights on time. As soon as more information is available it will be published on this page of the Jet2.com website and up to date information will be available from our staff at your departing airport.

I have read on another Corfu site that the proposed strikes have been suspended - so that's good news for those of us flying out this coming week.

This mornings Thomas Cook flight fro. Newcastle scheduled for 6.45 a.m. sadly was delayed 7 hours and actually took off at 1.50.p.m. Its due to land 6.58 p.m . Not sure why because all other flights to Corfu were on time. That's the flight we get on the 1st August that's why we noticed.

The delay was due to the need to replace the plane because a bird had flown into one of the engines, there were many delays yesterday on U.K. flights for various reasons. pete.
