It’s difficult when the first day of the season coincides not only with Greek Orthodox Easter, but with Mayday as well. May 1st is also a national holiday in Greece and it’s the day we all make our stefanis, or wreaths to hang over our doors for the next twelve months. The other thing that traditionally happens on May 1st is the village festival in Roda, but that’s just not possible with all the other things going on. The good news is that out festival will now take place next
Saturday May 7th
If you are in Roda next weekend, then don’t miss it!

We’re hoping that tomorrow night’s Roda Festival will be a big success. In addition to the local band ‘Faiakes’, there will be a traditional dancing group from Karousades at around 9pm, plus a cheerleading group from Acharavi. There will also be the usual souvlaki, loukoumades and all the other tasty food we have come to associate with Greek festivals, plus a new contributor selling Greek traditional products. I believe there will be a lottery with a prize of around €200 for the winning ticket.
