Good morning from Roda. It is a gorgeous morning here today. We have blue skies, a few thin high clouds with some fluffy white ones and a warm breeze. The visibility is good and the sea is calm and blue.
Yesterday was lovely all day, the clouds tended to stay over Albania leaving us with the thin high stuff. The breeze got up as it always does in the afternoon, then faded to almost nothing. The sea got a bit rougher during the afternoon, but settled down by the evening. We had a lovely sunset and a warm night. The minimum temperature only got down to 18°C.
The readings at 10 am on Sunday 5th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 21.6°C and humidity 76% The dew point is a comfortable 17°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 23.4°C and the minimum was 16.9°C . The maximum humidity was 76% and the minimum 66%
5th. June 2015 Maximum temperature 28.0°C, minimum 18.9°C Maximum UV 7.
The reported UV for today is 8 ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice).

For those who follow daily Janiemous report that description of the wind is so true on an afternoon we've lay on the loungers outside the harbour bar and listened as it picked up and then drop away. To be honest when it does come it cools you down nicely. Thanks as always for the daily update it is well appreciated.

Learning here 2 weeks ago the temperature was just higher but the UV lower?. Is that due to the sun been nearer?

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely morning here. We have blue skies, and a few wispy clouds being held up by the Albanian mountains. There is a cooling breeze and great visibility. Though there is a bit of haziness at the base of those Albanian mountains. The sea is lovely and blue and looks fairly calm.
Yesterday was pretty good all day. The afternoon wind and the sea got up as usual and the cloud cover increased to mask the sun at times. Then by early evening it did its usual thing and the breeze died down and the skies cleared. The sunset was pretty rather than spectacular and we had a lovely star lit evening.
The readings at 10 am on Monday 6th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 22.0°C and humidity 73% The dew point is a comfortable 17°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.6°C and the minimum was 18.1°C . The maximum humidity was 78% and the minimum 62%
6th. June 2015 Maximum temperature 26.9°C, minimum 18.7°C Maximum UV 8.

Learning here 2 weeks ago the temperature was just higher but the UV lower?. Is that due to the sun been nearer? Yes that is correct, also the angle of the sun's rays are more acute therefore they travel a shorter distance through the atmosphere. We are told that the UV is highest around 1pm/ 2pm (solar noon). So the UV at 10am and 3pm can be as low as 5 when the maximum was 9. I think the nicest time is after 3pm the temperature is still high and the UV is dropping all the time so the risk of burning and skin damage is less. Today, for example, the UV at 11am and 3pm is 6 and at 10am and 4pm it is 5. Solar noon is later because of the clock adjustment of +1 hour. Hope this helps. Jan

How are you on long term forecasts by the way. Mainly the first 3 weeks in August. Corfu has many micro climates which make forecasting the weather difficult and something I leave to the experts. It can rain here and not at Acharavi, and Steve and I think Ipsos gets a lot more rain than we do. The mountains, of which we have a lot, can make their own weather. I look at about 3 or 4 sites and take my own readings which I compare with others around the north. However I did see a long distance forecast that the eastern med would be hot and dry whilst France and western Europe would be wet and the UK warm. August is usually hot and sunny, though thunderstorms can be set off. Last year was more unpredictable than usual, probably because of global warming, and we did had a few days with a few drops of light rain in the early part of the month, some overnight. There again much of the Mediterranean was the same. I am putting last years temperatures on my daily report for comparison. Jan

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely morning here. We have blue skies, sunshine, a gentle breeze and it is already quite warm. We had the warmest night of the year so far when the temperature only dropped to 19°C. The visibility is good, I just watched a cruise liner glide up the channel close to Albania, beautiful in the morning light. The sea is lovely and blue, but I can here waves crashing on the shore, I am not sure if we will get a swim today.

I’m not sure when we last had an average year and, with the world’s weather in turmoil, who knows what will happen in 2016? If you do want an indication of averages across Corfu, there is more information than you can ever need on this site:

Good morning from Roda. It is a beautiful morning here at the moment. We have lovely blue skies dotted with little white clouds. There is a gentle breeze and good visibility. The sea still has some waves hitting the shore but is a wonderful shade of blue.
Yesterday stayed good all day, though there was a build up of thick stormy looking clouds over Albania in the afternoon which also led to a significant build up over our mountains behind us. Strinilas must have been cold and damp. The visibility decreased as Albania disappeared from the horizon. But Roda clung onto the sunshine and fine weather even if other parts of the island had clouds. It was quite breezy at times, but the early evening did its usual thing and the clouds dissipated, the breeze died down to nothing and the clouds thinned. We ended the day warm and calm with a great sunset.
The readings at 10 am on Wednesday 8th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 22.3°C and humidity 71% The dew point (how humid it feels) is a comfortable 16°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.1°C and the minimum was 19.3°C . The maximum humidity was 76% and the minimum 64%
8th. June 2015:- Maximum temperature 27.0°C, Minimum 20.0°C, Maximum UV 7.
The reported UV for today is 7 ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice).

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely morning here today. We have blue skies, tempered by very thin high cloud with the addition of a few clouds circling the horizon. There is a gentle breeze from the south, and the sea is calm. The visibility is poorer than yesterday towards Albania, with the mountains just showing as a jumble of grey outlines. However the visibility here on Corfu is good with Karousades clearly to be seen on the hill side.
Yesterday was a bit like the previous day. It started off very good, then there was some serious clouds building up over Albania and to the east of Roda we lost the sun for a while. The amount of sun we had yesterday was a lot very more than forecast and the UV was at least 8 at its highest. The clouds did build up over our mountains but didn't sink as far as on Tuesday, just brushing the higher peaks. It was quite breezy during the day which hid the high temperature we had. Then the usual happened, the breeze died away, the skies cleared and we had a lovely clear warm evening with another great sunset.
The readings at 10 am on Thursday 9th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 22.2°C and humidity 70% The dew point (how humid it feels) is a comfortable 16°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 26.1°C and the minimum was 18.2°C . The maximum humidity was 76% and the minimum 56%
9th. June 2015:- Maximum temperature 25.4°C, Minimum 19.8°C, Maximum UV 8.
