We book accommodation before we leave Roda, usually with Angela at Angelina apartments, but we have stayed in others including Theo's and Venus - but we go in either June or September so can't tell you how easy or difficult it is to book for July due to school holidays / extra demand. We then book flights as soon as they are available and find Easyjet and Jet2 the best value. Easyjet fly from Newcastle on Sundays. We pay for the accommodation when we arrive in Roda. This way, the only initial outlay is the cost of the flight. The first day EJ flights were available to book for this summer they were around £110 pp return including luggage. We don't pay for extras like meals or seats together as we find them unnecessary and we have never ended up sitting farther apart apart than across the aisle or a row in front/ behind. Good luck.

Thanks very much indeed for that Kath, we are taking all this advice on board and will look into it for next year, for now we are just looking forward to our forthcoming holiday, we may even make some enquiries while we're there, thanks again.

It couldn't be anymore straightforward.
You are best booking your flights as soon as they are released for the next summer season. Most of the airlines release them simultaneously to each other. We have flown with a number of different companies and can't really say that any were better priced than the other. By booking independent flights you have the flexibility to pick any airline, I know you are coming out for 3 weeks - a couple of years ago we tried to come out for 3 weeks - due to my employers/annual leave protocol I was unable to take 3 weeks off. What we did as way of compromise was to book two separate outbound/inbound flights, this meant that we could have 19 days instead of our usual 14 days (it made a huge difference).
As for you accommodation I would seriously put out some feelers when your out this year, speak to some owners of some accomodations - see if they could offer you a booking for the dates you want for next year and just get them in their diary. You don't need to leave a deposit and can pay for your accomdation in full when you arrive next. If you didn't want to pay theos prices you could try an 'tiny' apartment complex called 'Angelinas' its adjacent to theos and still benefit from the pool use (theos is a public pool). We save for our apartment over the year and then make a withdrawal for the full amount whilst on holiday - we normally settle it when we first arrive. Although I get the impression that from the locals you can pay anytime before you leave.
I hope this helps you in the short term, I can't stress the importance of speaking to the locals to see what availability there is for different venues.

It's only until you do it for yourself do you gain the confidence to book independent over package deals. I come with my parents and my husband every year so we are constantly looking for the most cost effective way of getting to roda. Long before I was married [back in the day] we did package deals. Like you we asked our friend Pete and a few others the benefits of booking independent - the rest shall we say is history - I'm not denying the first time we booked separate we were still nervous, however, that first anxiety was short lived once we arrived at our destination, we quickly learned that you can still get places without the support of a travel agency.

Why don't you try self catering. Easy enough to sort out breakfast for yourselves and that means that you only pay for the room . We are coming for 3 weeks 21 nights at 25 euros a night 525 in total. And we eat out for every meal. sorted !!

Well the breakfast at Afrodite was as people said. The buns were freshly baked you can smell them on morning. Obviously the rest is the boiled egg cake and Melba toast to go with a piece of cheese and ham. Sadly some people instead of just asking for what they would eat just left what they didn't. What we did was order 4 rashers of bacon with sliced tomato for 2.80 euros and improvise some days. Other days the sausages or English breakfast. One day I had eggs on toast with the ham and cheese between the toast and eggs. Fruit juice and coffee lovely. Kept the cake and boiled egg for later.
So typical Dave and Paula breakfast
Fruit juice Coffee Boiled egg( just knock the top off pretend its soft) Bun with bacon cheese and tomato in Slice of Ham Melba toast with marmalade on
Lovely.
