You know reading the messages lately I was amused by how it takes 25mins to walk to Acharvi from Roda.Well not the case last year with Paula and myself. The end of July in Roda was hot and humid so we were waiting for the right day to do the walk we had done the previous year.It was a lovely morning when we set off -we stopped silver beech last year. However getting down to the front Paula who had rather swollen ankles(sorted by chemist at the crossroads later) said we will have to stop right next to ninos and went into the sea to cool her feet down.15 mins later we were going again well for 200yards she sat down I went in the sea. Then we stopped at Barron's? for water coffee and more water ha.We had done 1 mile in one hour. Got there eventually and headed straight back and it rained it really did and we managed to get into the grill room just in time. They were taking the tables and chairs in out of the rain and I asked could one be left out -strange request she said - Why? I merely said - to put her feet on! How far is it I don't know but were going to beat the time in August ha

Some people take all day to get to Acharavi & back, David & Paula - and what nicer way to pass the time? It's been taking us about 25 minutes over the winter, but then it can be bracing and a brisk walk is called for, in spite of the best efforts of the storms and workmen to slow us down. Even now, there are still a few watering holes if you are dodging rain or merely ambling.
