Roda is well served by small mini-markets, maybe four through the winter and ten in the summer. Almost everything you need can be bought locally but, if you want a larger selection, there are the national chains in Acharavi. In many cases, the bigger shops are no more expensive than the mini-markets buying through wholesalers, and you may often be surprised that goods are offered for sale in the village at the same price as they are in the larger supermarkets.
It is early days, but one of Greece’s larger supermarket operators may be coming now to Roda. Masoutis is ranked number four in Greece with almost as many stores as Alpha-Beta and equal in size to Lidl. As in the UK, it operates a number of ‘local express’-type outlets, possibly franchised, and Roda may have such a store operating some time in 2016 and promising lower prices. I’ll let you know more as and when things develop.

Chris’s post about ‘Local Food & Drink Prices’ was well-timed, as the post earlier this year about a new all-year supermarket in Roda seems to have been warranted. 'Express Market’ is now official, and it seems that Yiannis has already opened as he restocks & re-arranges. Leopard Travel have edged sideways into smaller premises and the ATM is still there between the two businesses.

That's good news, the first time I did a shop there and he realised I must own a place due to my purchases Yiannis introduced himself and his wife, told me where he lived as it next village to my house and gave me a free bottle of wine. Top man, I'm sure the new store will be a success and I will be using it.
