Steve and I enjoyed our evening walk around the village tonight. We had to keep moving because if we had stopped we would have been pressure washed, whitewashed or made to wash tables etc. The whole village is active, getting ready for the oncoming season. Theodoros Resort is open and we were shown one of the new rooms, it will be impressive when finished, Roda Park was busy, as was Nikos Family Taverna. Drosia has been open all winter apart from a short time whilst they expanded into next door. Sandy's is open and the former reptile house opposite has been given a spruce up. There was work going on at the former Crown and the fish spa was renovating itself. Lena’s was getting painted and the little shop that used to sell framed insects had its doors open. The scaffolding has been removed from the building across the lane from the Dolphin, which itself has been redecorated and new windows fitted. Acropolis was getting decorated and Crusoe’s appears ready for the season. Pirates' has been open all winter, but has put on ts summer garb and now has a limited menu of breakfasts and snacks, cocktails and ice-creams. Alexandros in the Village was a hive of activity, though it too has been open in the evening all winter. New Port has just started to get ready and El Mar is repairing the winter storm damage. Five Roses is open for drinks, and Eleni said they were starting food soon. The Coral seems to be just about ready, the Brandy Shop has been cleaned up, and the Boathouse is hard at it. The Grill room, Ammos, has been painted and has new screens, so it should be up and running. Nino’s on the Beach and Semeli are also hard at work. Also on the main street many of the tourists shops are opening and the Mexican restaurant has varnished anything that stays still! Sunriders and Top Gear are all stocked up and ready. We feel quite guilty watching all this activity, though we are very busy getting the garden sorted after our trip back home.
