Hi all, new to this forum and was looking for the answer to a question I have....
in 2008 we did a road trip from the UK to Corfu, we drove to Venice and travelled on Minoan Lines Ferry to Corfu! We loved every minute of this journey and have decided that we want to do it again in Summer 2015 - my question is.....
Do Minoan still service this route in the Summertime as it's currently not available and their new timetable/routes are not out until next month (November) Just wondered if there was a chance that they won't be doing this.
thanks

Welcome to the forum r055 - we did have a few ferries sailing direct to Corfu this summer, but only in the peak months. Minoan are still struggling with the 'Europa' which I think was still in Corfu recently, having run aground. We were due to sail to Igoumenitsa on her soon, but the schedules and ships have all been changed. Whether this will impact on next summer's schedules is hard to say, but I would contact 'Greek Ferries' for details of all routes from Italy to Greece - they seem to know their stuff.
I understand that the ferry port in Venice has moved too - I think it is now on the mainland.

Thanks for the welcome and the info, I've looked around and can't find anything about the ferry port moving, I'll find out more if and when we get booked to go on this route, wanted to do this because sailing out of Venice is a brilliant experience and the night on the boat is another great part of the holiday! If we have to go a different route then that's what we'll do..
First went to Corfu in 1993 and stopped in the hotel at Astrakeri Beach, it was love at first sight between there, Spiro no1 and Roda, we spent two summers in Roda 96 & 97 we became good friends with Theo's but we've not seen them since 2008
It's also a few years since we attempted a Drosia Mixed Grill and thought it was time to give it another go.......lol
I hope to be an active member of this forum and look forward to having many conversations with people that Love Roda, Corfu!
Cheers

2008 that's probably long enough before trying another Drossia mixed grill. Probably best not to have a starter though.

I know what you mean about sailing out of Venice, ro55, but I think that was the problem. I don't know for sure, but I think they now sail from somewhere near the refineries at Fusina. Why not try sailing from Trieste, about 2 hours further on from Venice. It's not Venice, but it is quite a city.

Cheers Steve, I'd never thought about sailing out of Trieste as the couple of times we've done the trip it was from Venice, it is a real option now that we'll try Trieste if we can't do Venice.
smg, Your right about the starter idea, it's a no go area when attempting a Drosia Mixed Grill......haha
