Thanks to the forum, I feel I know Roda very well - which is surprising as I have never been to this part of the Island. I have a couple of questions that I am intrigued to find the answers too.
1) If you walk away from Roda towards Sidari, from the area where the Roda Oasis and Kosmas buildings are what would you come across - say within a 20/30 minute walk - Villages? tavernas? that sort of thing?
2) I'm assuming that the sunbeds on the beach are run by the Taverna/restaurant owners. I read that the Skouna offer a 10% discount on meals/drinks if you pay for their sunbeds? Do they all offer something similar? Or are there better deals to be had from some?
3) As a football coach (not at a high level I would point out) wherever I go in the world I like to try and watch a local game. I understand that Kerkyra and Kassiopi have merged and that with the Superleague starting late August it would be unlikely that I catch a game of theirs (would be in Corfu during the first 3 weeks of August 2015). Do Roda have a team that I might be able to watch?
Thanks in advance
Andy

Hi Andy, 1 - You might make it to the Sunrise Taverna - very nice with great views, the next village is Karousades, might take a little longer. 2 - Most of the sunbeds have been reduced during the season from 7 to 5 euros for a set of 2 plus a parasol, most offer a waiter service but no discount for drinks & food, not sure if Skouna have reduced their bed prices, will have a look today. 3 - There isn't a team in Roda I'm afraid. pete.

Karousades is well worth a visit and is a large thriving traditional village just beyond 'Sunrise'. You could also turn right after 'Sunrise', head towards Astrakeri and take the first right turn for Agnos. It brings you down to the sea and you can then keep right again and follow the old road back to Roda, bringing you out by Afroditi Hotel. As Pete says, sunbeds are much cheaper this year and many are taking advantage of that. There is one local English lad playing for AO Kerkyra. He started off playing with local teams and there are often matches in Nymfes, Karousades etc. Alex at Drunken Sailor might know more.
