Well said Steve - my only concern is that newbies / first time visitors get the wrong impression - hopefully they will read other reports on threads for the individual restaurant(s) in question.
Gil, I remember the first time our now son in law joined us in Roda and he sat with an anxious look on his face listening to two of our Greek friends having a conversation - he really thought they were fighting and on the brink of fisticuffs!

This is the last time I answer,as you Steve has joined in.At El Mar they have a Restaurant menu and on there are Cocktails to have after the meal, which nothing to do with a limited menu, they did not have Spirits to put in the Cocktails,I never mentioned the Quality of food,it seems to be some people that are on this site do not read what is in front of them, and also as you said Steve, Skouna NOW has food

having sampled most of the bars and restaruant /cafe bars in roda except the boathouse which will be resolved on monday, and some that no longer exist a reccomendation is a personal choice .and a critisism the same .i can recall getting involved in a discussion on this forum, about a bar/restaraunt who had short changed a customer as well as serving below standard meals .my opinion was that if was a regular event it should be shared to inform visitors to this forum ,who are considering visiting roda .applejack is entitled to opine on this forum ,and give his view

If it is a regular event there may be a case for raising a concern a one off visit is not enough 'evidence' in my opinion. Applejack I assure you I did read your post very, very carefully before replying. The point about Skouna is that it has previously been a café/bar providing excellent snacks and drinks. Yes it is NOW providing food but it is its first year doing this so I suggest a limited menu (poor selection?) is sensible and something that can be built up year on year.

Applejack, so pleased you had a great time in Roda and are looking forward to going again next year. I think providing a review of the places you ate and drank in is a good idea but do feel that giving a score out of 100 can be a bit dangerous and misleading as everyone has their favourites and as some have said could put others off. Always think it's much better to simply list your favourites and any specific recommendations because that way people can make their own mind up about the others. I've eaten and drank in all of Roda's restaurants and bars and in 18 years only had one instance where I would never go back in again (fortunately it's no longer there) I certainly know that some bars do better cocktails than others, but I like to keep schtumm about them as I don't want them to get too busy! Seems to be a bit of a cloud over this post which is a shame, so lets move on and all look forward to our own time in Roda. Tony

To understand the issue of raised voices in heated discussion (Kath & Gil), we would all benefit from learning a few Greek words. The 'arguments' do sound serious until you learn to pick out words such as 'garlic', 'onion', 'courgette' etc ... only then do you realise that half the fights are actually recipes being exchanged!

I welcome applejack's opinions, saint, and opinions can be changed. At one time, I did not accept your opinion about the restaurant/bar you mentioned, but now I agree. Restaurants also can change their fortunes when they change their chefs ... luckily, most know better than to take off a winning team and many are family-run anyway.

Come on people lets move on,we have all had good meals as well as a few poor ones .Over 18yrs I.have only had 1 bad meal & still have not been back to that certain restaurant. The only criticism I will make of Applejack is that I do not agree with him giving points, but hope he still returns to Roda .Dave
