Hi,
Myself, partner and 11 year old son are thinking of coming to Roda in July. Would just like to know if there is enough things to do for my son.
Thanks so much

I suppose it all depends on what your son likes to do. When my daughter was 11 she was happy to spend most of her days in the swimming pool. July will be scorchio so I guess your time will be spent around the pool or at the beach where you will be able to hire a pedalo. If there is something specific he likes to do let us know - someone will have the answer.
regards, Kath.

If your son is in to water activities, then I would recommend the Aqualand, located in the centre of Corfu, and can be visited through you local Travel Shops in Roda. For more information go to this link:
AQUALAND CORFUThere is another waterpark, located closer to Roda known as the Hydropolis, located in Acharavi, along the north coast of the island. Cheaper entrance fees, but in my opinion, not so many water features.
As already said above, in the daytime, they will find so much to do, in particular with other kids, on the beaches, etc. In the evening, most bars etc, will permit children (Corfiots love the kids), and of course you must take your son to a Greek Night (many will be available during your stay). The children love it with all the dancing, singing, and they get to join in more than the adults. Also lovely food and normally free drinks for the children. He will be tired when you get back to your hotel.
Have fun.

Bicycle hire, horse riding, boat trips, coach trips. Our youngest daughter is returning to Roda for the nineteenth time in July and will celebrate her 16th birthday during her stay she says she has never been bored in the village.

This is quite handy for us as well in August with our 11 year old - although she just loves the laid back greek way of life so she just doesn't care what she is doing

Been going to Roda since before I can even remember and I don't think I ever got bored! If you don't fancy the trip to Aqualand I'd definitely reccommend Hydropolis in Acharavi, not as much there but more than enough to to fill a day!

Aqualand may be "bigger & better" but if there are not a lot of bookings from each resort you can spend many boring hours on the coach as it flits from town to town picking people up, you get much more time at Hydropolis and don't forget that they have 2 all inclusive days per week - great when the kids want drinks & ice cream. pete.

we are certainly being drawn towards Hydropolis especially on an all-inclusive day

I agree that Hydropolis is an excellent day out especially the all inclusive option. You can get picked up and dropped off in the village although we used to forego the ride home and walk slowly back to Roda with an evening meal on the way in Acharavi watching the sun set.

Hydropolis is at the far end of Acharavi from Roda, it's probably about 4k in total, as SMG says it's walkable if you stop off in Acharavi for a break. a taxi will cost you about 7 euros each way, or there's the local bus at about 1.7 euro each, you can pay at the gate or book at one of the villages travel shops. pete.

I'll speak to Rena at Corfu Best Travel. There was a time when booking through her was cheaper than paying at the gate and it included a short transfer.

I saw Rena tonight and she has confirmed three things:
- It is cheaper to book Hydroplis through Corfu Best Travel than to pay on the gate
- Aqualand may be 10% cheaper by booking with her in Roda, than when you get there, even if you drive yourself
- Trips to Aqualand from Corfu Best Travel go straight to the water park and do not pick up along the way
I think they are the only ones to offer these advantages. Booking before you travel is common in Europe. Italian trains and buses should always be booked and paid for before boarding and it seems the same rules apply here.
