Hi, N & P is a bank debit account not a card. As I said before I changed my bank account from Nationwide to N & P when they started charging for withdrawals abroad. It is a win, win situation.

Exactly annie we have done the same and will be using N and P this year as you say win win as there are no charges. I have never used TravelFX but I doubt they operate for free.

I am not doubting the fact that at this moment in time you are probably getting the best rate but will you be still getting the same rate in September? If my memory serves me well last September the rate was around 1.18 so waiting can be a gamble,as for TravelFX if you order above £700 worth of euros it is completely free (£5 delivery charge if less) and delivered the next day if required, and it saves the hassle of finding an ATM when you run low.It all depends on individual preference but it is good to know that you have different choices, Michael and Pauline.

Our ATM next to Loft Car Hire offers as convenient and cheap a way of changing money as there is. A €300 withdrawal will cost about £6. Corfu Best Travel was offering €1.21 last night, as are several other people. There is a transaction charge, but not enough to make much difference over the length of your stay.

My euros are due to arrive today. I got them online through travel fx. The rate was 1.214, there was no commission and free next day special delivery . It's the first time I've used them but it was a smooth process. Worked out we gained an extra e18 (few beers) against getting from the best on the high street. Antony

Sterling Pound to Euro Rate Hits €1.25
Today (13-June-2014) the markets have opened at 1.25 following comments last night from Mark Carney, the Governor of the Bank of England, that interest rates in the UK are likely to go up sooner than the markets expect - hinting that interest rates could be hiked this year. Mr Carney stated that the decision to raise interest rates is becoming more balanced and, considering it had been rumoured rates would be raised in Spring 2015, there is now a chance we will see rates raised from the current record low level of 0.5% within the next 6 month which is good news for savers but not such good news for those with tracker mortgages. However, as a high interest rate both increases the demand for that currency due to the strong returns and also shows the confidence the Central Bank have in the countries economy and as a result strengthens the currency and this is why we have seen the Pound push up to the highest levels in nearly 2 years. Thanks Dorsetman, we were struggling to get 1.09 last year so 1.25 would be great! ?
