Happy name day Steve, If you are getting the cakes in book me and Jenny down for a big slice of Galaktoboureko. That was one of our favourites along with the date and walnut served with a cappuccino.

No Galaktoboureko, Mark, it would have to be 'Melomakarona' at this time of year - look them up, they are fantastic. It would be hard to save one for you until the summer - might have to eat them all!

Thanks for that information Steve, I have looked Melomakarona up and now printed off the recipe, Jenny likes to indulge in a spot of baking and these tasty treats look fascinating for the festive period. Regards Mark.

They are so delicious, but they are heavy as the biscuits are soaked in the sugar syrup. To buy them they range in price from €6 to €12 a kilo. The taste of orange is subtle but there. I plan to make a batch and also make the walnut karidopita, I have all the stuff ready. Hope to have some made before our landlord visits as he has a sweet tooth. Hope your melomakarona taste great.I still have orange curd and bergamot marmalade to make as well!
