Where to start? As you will probably all know by now, Kelly (withgreekorigin) and James got married on 7th September and I was sworn to secrecy on here in case her greek friends found out before she could surprise them with her news when we got to Roda. There were a lot of private messages passing back and forth between, Pete, Steve, Kath Rippon and myself so that a surprise could be arranged for the happy couple at Roda Park - which Pete has mentioned elsewhere.
For those who may be thinking "fancy going on honeymoon with your parents" the holiday was booked last year and they only decided in March/April this year to get married in September and have the holiday as their honeymoon so to say the past few months have been hectic would be an understatement - but it has been lovely for Brian and myself and we couldnt be more pleased to welcome James to our family - and to the "family" we are part of in Roda too. You have all made him feel right at home.
Well, we all had a fabulous time staying at the Angelina apartments (again) and lounging around the pool at Theos. The weather was terrific - we had a downpour overnight one night and a heavy shower one night as we went out to dinner but apart from that it was largely wall to wall sunshine but thankfully a lot cooler than many people reported of August's heatwave.
We attended both FGTs and met some new people as well as old friends.
We hired a car from Dromeas (picking up/dropping at airport) and received excellent service as usual. We went out and about on a few days but by and large just relaxed and chilled out.
We ate at Pixieda once, Roxannes once and the remainder of the time we ate either at Roda Park (our favourite restaurant) and at El Mar. All our meals were excellent but special praise must go to El Mar - their food is simply brilliant. Their ingredients are top class and the all round ambience is just right. I think the other restaurants in Roda need to pay attention to what is happening there as it is streets ahead in terms of the quality of the food on offer. We all had steaks on different nights and can all say it was the best cooked steak we had ever had - excellent cuts of meat cooked and presented perfectly. Every meal we had there was fantastic - between the 4 of us we must have tried all of the starters and lots of the main meals and couldnt fault anything. Our evenings were spent in Crusoes enjoying the company of Alex, Dot and Michelle and also Pete and Debbie and Kath and Rob (and Andy). We had many brunches in Crusoes too with Lynn, Sara and Alexandra (not to forget Eva and Spiros).
Well this is turning into a saga - suffice to say Roda was just as we left it last year with the welcome addition of El Mar. Everyone was thrilled at hearing Kelly and James' news and made a big fuss of them, from the little surprise at Roda Park to Rena arranging for them to have a romantic meal at Peroulades. Many thanks to you all for making this an extra special holiday for us all.
Will go now before I bore you all to tears.
very kind regards, Kath (and Brian, Kelly and her other half James) xxx
