Hi chowsey - forget package deals, you can visit Roda at any time of the year. OK, the journey is not so straightforward and the village is quite different in the winter, but ask yourself why so many people actually prefer it at this time of year? It is quiet, but it is beautiful - most of the summer businesses are closed, but the few that are open will give you a whole new perspective on the real Roda. Don't forget, many of your friends are here all year - and they have more time to give to you! Our commitment to this web site is geared to bringing summer visitors to this wonderful village, but our love of Roda is based on a year-round involvement with its community and the rewards that we get in return.

You're right about that, Dave - I've just come back from a walk over the headland at Almiros, over to the next bay and up to the old monastry. There's a light breeze blowing, too cold for a swim, but fine for a bracing walk in just shirt & trousers - I took a jumper, but I didn't need it. There were black clouds behind Acharavi, but broken sunshine everywhere else and the views and the colours were spectacular. As I returned over the headland by the breakwater, the whole of St George's Bay was stretched out before me and, with the sun getting lower, the reflections were stunning. You are right about the rewards.
