Well, I did buy a swimming costume in Sept.2014.........I also shopped in there this June and spent a lot of money, one item being a "watch" which I found out would not work, I took it back and it was changed for another of the same make and colour...I took it away and again it was faulty so I took that one back....but would you believe it, the owner chrysa would not give me my money back on this faulty item,( I had to pick something of the same value) so beware when buying any product in Queens...a notice on the counter says No Refunds......and she means it !!..I am so disappointed with the service and will take my custom elsewhere. I am lost for words Kaz! How can anyone in business treat a customer in this way - we have only been in twice and weren't all that impressed - we will definitely not go back in now. I suspect anyone else reading of your experience will act in exactly the same way.

I will speak to Chryssa about this, but the last I heard she was not working as she was pregnant.

I suspect this example of "customer service" will cost this business dearly - how stupid can you get?

Dear people, when travelling you need to know that there are not the same circumstances like England all around the world! In Greece, nowhere and i really mean nowhere you don't get your money back!! It's quite hard to explain this in English but when you give a receipt you pay some tax(and we are not one of those bussinesses that people buy without getting a receipt) there's no way to "cancel" the receipt and not pay the tax! And something else if someone comes for a control and tries to compare the receipts i've given during the day and how much money i have in my cashier and there's a difference that means a really big fine for me!! So,for all those reasons that you don't know in advance we inform our customers before they pay that we don't give money back! But,we never denied getting whatever else you wanted from our shop (and we have a really big variety) and as far as i know we apologised for the watch you had and we served you with a smile! Thank you!

Which all goes to say you are happy to take money off tourists but are not prepared to do anything when the goods sold turn out to be faulty! We pay VAT in the UK too - surely your till has the function to process a refund which would be your proof that you had returned money to a customer so would no longer be liable for any tax on that transaction. I know many people describe Greece as being behind the times but I find this explanation impossible to believe. We will not set foot in this shop.

I swear to God! Robbery with a smile! We have been coming to Corfu and Roda for many, many years and all those years ago one of the locals once said to us that some Greeks will smile at you as they take your money and laugh at you as you leave .... my husband and I chose to ignore this but now I wonder ....... We have an English expression "what goes around, comes around" oh and I typed this message with a smile - so that's alright!

I can't believe the 1st paragraph of her last response. Readers will have individual interpretations but that can't be a good message for a new business.

Me neither Antony - the silly thing is that in the instance we are debating Kaz had, and I'm sure would have continued, to give repeat custom - it brings to mind the saying "there's none so blind as those that will not see" .....

It’s good to have such discussions on the forum but, before this goes much further, let’s be sure what the situation is here in Greece. Many may not realise how small businesses are controlled here by the till. You cannot simply buy a till without the involvement of an accountant. One local business a few years ago had their till stolen overnight and it almost closed down the restaurant. If the business is open and above board, the till is paramount and you cannot operate without it. I suspect that what Chrysa says is correct, but it does need clarification. Bear with us and we’ll try to find out more ...

I tried to post earlier before Steve but couldn't log in. I am in Roda and have had a look today at the tills most don't have an open and close key let alone refund function. Some comments made on this thread are unacceptable at best and given the world we now live in could/should be seen as as lot worse.Comments such as these could close a business I don't think they deserve that just because you don't agree with their business practice. By the way Britain no longer rules the waves.
