Hi guys, like most of you we have visited Roda on many occasions, but like most of you im guessing, in the summer months. Keen to hear from anyone who has been there late October! Any info would be good ie. Sea temp?bars and resturants still open?weather?etc Any comments welcome. Please bear in mind, me and the wife would be quite happy sliding between Pirates and Skouna, but we will have a 14 and 8 year old in tow! As i said, any comments welcome.

This is my first year going in October - albeit the beginning, but i'm wondering about temps & stuff too.
I heard during the day, the past couple of years, it's been about 24-ish, but I can imagine it'd get really cool in the evenings?

I was there last year until the 15th Oct. yes it was cold in the evenings and a couple of stormy days, very windy, Afroditi closed on the 18th-19th.....Newport closed down...it started to get very quiet (for me anyway) and I myself wouldn't stay thatlate again it was a one-off anyway..but people were arriving still (in the last 2weeks) some preferred that time of the year but I will stick to Sept.........still a lot of restaurants open and bars
ENJOY WILKENT

Hi wilkent - firstly, the weather will be less predictable than you are used to and there will be some rain during the month. It's a lottery as to whether it happens when you are there. Having said that, it can be glorious up to and after Christmas but, as the days get shorter, the opportunity for being in the sun reduces and air temperatures are lower. The evenings are better than the spring as the sea temperatures do hold up for some time. We were swimming in the sea on November 29 last year. After Christmas, we get 2-3 months of colder, wetter, weather, unless it's sunny like 2012 when we had prolonged high pressure and pipes froze.
Bars & restaurants do start to close and if I asked the owners now what they will do this year, they wouldn't know. Pirates' & Skouna will almost certainly be open and it's better to have some close when there are fewer visitors. We sat in the grill room last November and counted all the businesses - tourist or otherwise - that were still open within a few hundred metres of the crossroads - there were at least 55. You should be just fine.
Steve

Hi Wilkent
We went to Roda for the last week in October a few years ago - and as Steve says, the weather can be unpredictable - we had some beautiful days and some days with lots of rain (but similarly we have had days like that when we have been in June/July/Aug & Sept - so you can see what we mean by unpredictable). The upside is that it is not scorchio so we were able to have some lovely walks locally and visited Corfu Town on the bus one day and had a lovely relaxing day without the relentless heat of high summer. The best thing for us was that the locals were "quiet" so we had loads of time with them to have proper conversations - not like the rushed ones in high summer when they are sooo busy. Our favourite restaurant Roda Park was open for the whole week, Nikos family restaurant closed mid-week and Compass (Pixieda) was open at the weekend. Crusoes and Pirates were open and we had some lovely nights in Crusoes with Alex and George - sometimes there were only the 4 of us and Alex would put a film on for us to watch - I say watch - these was one night he put on a film with Greek subtitles that he then tried to relay to us - it was hysterical.
Although we would love to do 2 visits in one year again I think we would go earlier in October if money ever allows us to do it again!
regards, Kath.

Ok thanks guys for all the info. Flights are certainly cheaper that time of year (late Oct), but are the apartment, room owners up for a bit of bartering on price that late in the year?

I think the apartments are always so reasonably priced there shouldn't be any need for bartering.

I'm with Kath. Apartments are cheap enough, I've found. No need for bartering.

its a win win situation. if the owner has spare accom,at the end of the season ,[OCTOBER] and he can rent it out, albeit at a slightly less than usual price.would he benefit by leaving it empty ?. and the renter has a few more euros to spend . and i would assume everyone is happy .

I had a very pleasant week out in Roda at the end of October. Yes the weather can be a bit changeable but I had six days of decent weather. It is a pleasant temperature for walking and, if you can try and walk into the countryside, especially the olive groves, as they are covered in wild cyclamen. Beautiful. As for the children take them into Acharavi on the 28th for 'OKI' day. There are parades and festivities celebrating Greece telling Italy where to go in WW11. Enjoy your holiday
