A few members have asked me to post some photos of our house build project here in Corfu. For anyone thinking of doing the same here are some of things you will need to do - 1st off, do your homework, we purchased a set of books called "the Greece buying guide", they contain a lot of valuable information. 2nd, decide where you want to live - in the village, outside the village or out in the sticks, our house is a 15/20 minute stroll from the center of Roda. 3rd, you will need a good english speaking lawyer, a civil engineer and an architect. 4th, to buy a piece of land or a house you need a Greek bank account and a Greek tax number. 5th, to get a building permit you have to have an archeological survey and a forestry survey carried out on your land. 6th, decide which builder you are going to use, word of mouth recommendations together with inspections of their work is how we picked ours. Here's some photos starting from the beginning & following the build process so far... The plot of land The engineer & architect using G.P.S. to mark out the position of the house on the land job done The archeological survey Chopping down the trees Digging the roots up Levelling out the land pete.

Fantastic photos, Pete! The ones you & Debbie signing the contract are fantastic. The best signature you've ever done in your life! Keep us update with photos. Can't wait to take a wee walk up in 4 weeks time, myself to have a wee look at how they're getting on. So happy & VERY jealous of you both!

Hi Tony, we've got 19 engineering line diagrams but they're a bit on the large side, hopefully you will soon get an idea of how it's going to look from my updates. pete.
