Do any of you book into any of the airport lounges when you're flying out on holiday?
I can get a deal, for £15 per person through my work's discounts service - think it's usually £17.75 per person. Was thinking by the time we get something to eat & a couple of drinks, we'd be at that price anyway.
Wondered what people think of the standard of snacks/drink/etc in these places, if you've used them in the past.

See, we're getting the train from Glasgow to Manchester, then flying straight out to Roda - well we should have about 3 hours to spare. Was thinking it'd be a bit more relaxing than just sitting in the main departure lounge, where it's all hustle & bustle!

Hi Jackie, I can't remember what time you are flying, make sure you check what time it is open at Manchester as it isn't open 24hrs. pete.

Hi Jackie, Deirdre and i use the Glasgow Skylounge most times before we fly. Great value for money - included in the entrance price is unlimited :wine/beer/spirits/mixers/scones/cheeses/biscuits/crisps/nuts/tea/coffee/newspapers/internet use etc. All good quality food and branded drinks as well. Champagne is extra though When you consider two coffee's or two drinks in the main airport building will cost you a fair few pounds i think it is well worth it. If you do have a choice book the business lounge if they have one in Manchester(not the holiday lounge) - The reason? - No children allowed whatsoever- peace perfect peace - a perfect way to begin your holiday and both lounges are the same price anyway! Great for people watching too - we met Billy Connolly last time - what a nice person he was as well - nothing like his stage personality i am pleased to say - he can still be funny without swearing. Regards David

I was thinking about the cost thing. Food & drink are going to cost more than £15, I would imagine. And it's quieter. My dad might be able to have a wee sleep. And it'll be comfier for my mum sitting around in. I'll get free Internet access & a wee wine or two, with some food thrown in for good measure. Colin will probably track down the smoking room in the main departure lounge & spend most of his time in there! LOL I think I may book in AND I may even treat myself to a wee champers - it IS my 40th after all!

Go for it Jackie - You know you deserve it! If you book in advance with Glasgow Airport Skylounge by credit card you can cancel and get all your money refunded as long as you cancel at least 24 hrs in advance of your booked arrival date and time - Don't know if that is the same story at Manchester though. A WEE champers? - probably cheaper by the bottle Jackie - think on !

lol Yeah, you're probably right there, David!
Going to have a proper look at it & run it past Colin & my parents, to see what they think.

we did it last year from Edinburgh and wouldn't do it again early in morning, I thought we would get an English breakfast or at least something hot but only got Continental style plenty of larger though but didn't think it was worth the £17 we paid

It's about £24 if you pay on the day at Manchester. I can get it for £15 through a work discount. There's a new lounge opening next week in Manchester, to replace one of the old ones, so i'm going to book in there. It overlooks the runway too, so it'll be nice to sit & watch the planes taking off & landing, while sipping a wee wine.

I booked the lounge. Brand new Aspire lounge - only opened on 23rd May, so all will still be new & shiny when we arrive. £15 a head through my discount. Soup & roll, pastries, cakes, buns, crisps & nuts. Soft drinks, tea, coffee, beer, wines & spirits, all included. Looks nice & comfy, with a view straight onto the runway! :-)
