We arrived home yesterday evening after a truly wonderful few days in our favourite place (without the kids).
We hired a car to meet us at the airport and kept it for the three days.
We got to Theo's early afternoon on Saturday to find that we were the first and only customers and he and his staff couldn't have done more for us. The pool looks wonderful, the apartment was clean and spacious and the food and service was amazing as usual.
We went for a stroll around Roda and as well as bumping into Pete, witnessed first hand the hard work and preparation going into many of the businesses in anticipation of the new season.
There was plenty of painting and drilling going on but everybody had time to stop for a friendly chat. We also took this opportunity to stop off in the Roda Grill for a beer and gyros (had to be done).
We made good use of the car and visited many places including Kassiopi, Old Perithea, which I've been wanting to visit for a while and was so glad I did. We had a meal at Capricorn Taverna. The owner Nikos is a lovely man and the views are amazing.
We also went to Sfakera, Astrakeri, San Stefanos West, a village called Afionas which has wonderful views of St. Georges bay and we stopped off in Corfu Town before our return home yesterday.
The evenings were spent with Pete and Debbie, drinking, playing pool and generally having a good laugh. My three favourite places to drink, Pirates, Crusoes and Mistral were all open and ready for business.
I can thoroughly recommend visiting Corfu in April. The weather was lovely but not too hot to walk around and explore, the locals have time to stop for a chat and there's a general feeling of excitement as the holiday season approaches.
Now I just have to hope that Grandma's willing to do the same again next year as that was definitely an experience that I'm keen to repeat
