Fabulous news. According to the Telegraph Easyjet are going all seat allocation. No more rugby scrum. Now if they only had more comfortable seats. Bev

Had a look at Easysyjet website Bev and it looks like seat numbers are allocated when you check in online - although it does not appear you can pick your seat as they are computer allocated at that point. Same old story - First come,First served.! Easyjet say this is a trial scheme - we will wait and see how trying it is!

According to the Easyjet website you can choose your seat for which there are different charges according to where you want to sit. If you don't want to choose, a seat will be allocated at check-in. This isn't a trial scheme, that has been running from selected airports successfully during summer 2012. This is now for next year from a number of different airports.

charges published for booking seat online with Easyjet, £12 for extra legroom, £8 for front of plane, £3 for rest of plane. If you do not want to pay then just save your money and wait to see what you get. Me, I would rather pay the little extra to chose my seat, that is if I fly Easyjet again. Jet2 have one price for all over the plane except extra legroom and they are a lot more comfortable.

It appears the timetables will roll out at the same time as the allocated seats programme . That means Gatwick South will be on 13th November and Gatwick North on 20th,. Bristol is in the 13th November Group

That ties in with the last available easyJet flight on the current schedule from Corfu to Gatwick on November 11th.
Ryanair seemed to be doing well with their extended service and the winter flights could have been very well supported. They must have generated extra interest and surely someone could now step in to fill the gap they have left.

There is never any need for the rush at easyjet boardings , its just typical brits all thinking they have a right to push and rush. Always makes me laugh when 100 or so idiotic people rush to get on even if its clearly stated disabled or and people with young kids etc. No matter what youll still get baffoons rushing. I just wait and get on peacefully still get a seat and if your in a couple etc u usally end up next each other anyways . The allocated seating seems like a excuse to make more advanced money . And just to clarify your term 'rugby scrum' is wrong. The term you should use is ruck and maul. Or just IDIOTIC BRITS. That think the planes leaving without them. And usually the same idiots that take up ALL the overhead storage space or the ones who just throw bags in and crush yours.

And it annoys me when people moan about the uncomfortable seats. FLY THOMSON then pay more money for them. Everyone knows what to expect from a low cost airline. Get over it and deal with it or spend millions on your own airline

Lukert - People fly with the so called "budget airlines" for a reason - they want to get to their chosen destination as cheaply as possible. They may not want or need the "extras" such as pre-allocated seat number/meal/extra baggage allowance etc. Your reference to "Idiotic Brits" and "buffons" is a bit over the top - yes there will always be someone who does not care for their fellow travellers and acts as if they are the chosen people who should be first aboard the plane. However thankfully these people are in the minority - By the way if your bags are crushed by them in the overhead lockers does that not mean you boarded the plane before them?

I don't think Easyjet seats are any more uncomfy than any other company.

Lukert - the fact is that if Easyjet simply allocated seats from the outset there would be no need for a scrum, ruck or whatever rugger terminology you wish to use and I agree wholeheartedly with all that Bev and Holidayman say above.
