Well suffice to say another fabulous week in Roda. Just returned home yesterday.
We stayed at the Venus Apartments run by Charlie and they were fabulous. The setting is great and Charlie is the sweetest man. Nothing is too much trouble.
The apartments are really nice. New microwave, sandwich toaster, and oven etc. with a little separate kitchen area for those who want to self cater. All apartments are situated around the pool with plenty of lawn in front of them. I don't want to sing their praises to much as we want to be able to get in next time we book
The weather was changeable - in fact on Sunday we had hailstones and torrential rain for about 3 hours. Charlie said it was all the rainfall they hadn't had throughout the winter in one day! but that still didn't dampen our spirits or ruin the holiday. being trapped in Pirates by the rain is no bad thing
We ate in most of the restaurants, trying to give all a little bit of trade. As usual the owners were so friendly and a walk to the village and back could take 3 hours or more after you have finished chatting with everyone. Coffee and cakes at Schooner were amazing as usual. Beef pastitsada at Newport, Sofrito in Nickos Family restaurant - my mouth is watering again at the thought of them.
Just a word of caution to those of you who have booked anywhere in Roda through Cosmos, Travel Republic, Alpha Rooms or Somewhere2Stay. I would e-mail your accommodation just to confirm they have your booking. We booked through Travel Republic and Charlie had no knowledge of the booking as the info is not being sent through to him. As it is early in the season it didn't present a problem as he had rooms to spare but whilst we were there he had another 10 people turn up that he had not been told about. Please remember it is the UK travel agent that is not passing on this information not the accommodation owners in Roda that are disorganized.
I'm off to look for flights for September - hoping to fit in a cheeky week before the season ends
