I reckon you're dead right there 'vodkalil'. But looks like it's now called "Petrino Steki" rather than "Odysseus" since it's changed hands? Chris

That's the one, Vodkalil - everything else looks much the same as before, but waiting for someone to report back on the food now.

They still have the olace in Acaharavi.
When I spoke to Nikos, he said that they had rented it out just for this season. I don't know if Nikos will be working through in Acaharavi though or what he's doing.

The last time I spoke to Nikos, dans, he was looking for a job. He was trained, I think, as an accountant. I have seen him in Acharavi a couple of times recently and - yes - that restaurant is still open.

Oh dear, the was my favourite restaurant, jacks what do you mean they have rented it just for this season, does that mean it will be something else again next year? Any idea why they decided to close Odysseus?

As I understand it, dans, a one-year contract exists in respect of Odysseus - much will depend on how both parties feel at the end of the season.
The current European crisis has not helped to swell the numbers of visitors to Corfu, coupled with uncertainty in the travel industry. The big players have been telling people for years that Roda is full when it's not, and now they themselves are struggling. Without their support the numbers will be held down, with less people, the laws of supply & demand come into play. Some restaurants are doing very well this year, but don't forget the three important issues for any retail business - location, location, location. As visitors do the rounds of their favourite restaurants, there are good days and bad ones at each one ... the tour operators are squeezing us unmercifully and the season is getting shorter. It is easy to be busy in July & August, but we need business in May & October too - hence the fabulous late-season offers from Venus & Theodoros.

Oh so Its still owned by Nikos and his family but Petrino Steki are renting it for this year with the possibility of continuing depending on what happens at the end of this season.
It will be a shame not to have Nikos' excellent hospitality this year

We ate here when we were out last month. Hubby had beef stifado and I had chicken in a mustard sauce. Food and service were very good and there were quite a few people in there as well - 2 couples said they had eaten there a couple of times already that week. I didn't eat there when it was Oddyseus so can't compare but no complaints.
