The 'smile' on this page is not big enough to show how we feel about our week in Roda !! We were invited to celebrate Easter with Alex and Sara ( and family ) at their house. Theo, of Theodoros fame, made us an offer ( to stay at the Theodoros for the week ) that we couldn't refuse !! And what a week it was !! We flew from Manchester on Friday 13th ( Not a good omen ) with EasyJet. The designers of Manchester Airport should be taken out at dawn, lined up against a wall, and shot !! The 'Old Corfu Airport ' had more sensible Check-in and Boarding facilities !! The whole place is like a 'rabbit-warren' !! The flight with EasyJet was no problem at all, although their 'Fist Come' policy for seats when boarding the 'plane is definitely not a process we would like to experience with a 'Full Load' !! Departure and Arrival were as planned and we didn't feel like Sardines just given their freedom when we arrived. Cheers EasyJet .... job well done Transfer to Roda didn't quite go as planned ! ! Theo had arranged for us to be picked-up but our "Limo " was involved in a small 'prang' so he didn't turn up !! No probs for Theo .... one or two 'phone calls and we were in Roda "quick/smart " !! Then began a week of the most friendly hospitality, finest food, and great entertainment that you could wish for !! We're pretty shattered at the mo so I'll sign off and fill you all in with more details tomorrow .... We'd like to thank so many people for such a great time but I'll leave that until the next installment as each of them deserve a mention !! 'Bye for now ... Johno and Shirl

Steve's picture above was taken on the Tuesday night at Theo's when the visiting Cricket team joined-up with my motley Crew for a night of fun and games which followed a massive Mixed Grill prepared by the Staff of Theo's ( great scoff !! ) Theo had organised a friend to come and Sing and Play his guitar for us all ( most present joined in !! ) and the night ended-up with half the Cricket team with glasses stuck to their chests !! ( Courtesy of "Theo Magic " !!) The photo caption isn't quite accurate as two of the 'Girls' ... aren't !! Any guesses ?? I know I've missed-out a couple of nights but I thought I'd explain the photo . Friday night when we arrived was taken up with much cuddles and kisses, flinging bags into room, having a few drinks ( then a few more ... then a few more ...) then hitting the sack !! On Saturday the Cricket Team arrived and they made themselves immediately at home ( especially at the Bar !! ) The first of 5 great nights with a terrific bunch of people !! I'll leave the Cricketing exploits of the Team to CathJohn as I know bu**er-all about Cricket . We visited the Church in Roda at Midnight to welcome Easter Sunday ... a very moving experience. On Sunday we were picked up-at Theo's by Alex's ( from Crusoes ) Father-in-Law and taken to Alex and Sara's home to celebrate Easter Sunday .... Greek Style !! More to follow tomorrow folks ..... Johno and Shirl

You sure they weren't all girls, Johno? Two are obviously ladies, but the other two seem to be making a statement also - one's wearing a basque and the other a skirt! Looks a bit like a Mothers' Union meeting to organise next year's calendar! These are the chest glasses - the latest fashion accessory in Greece ...

Can't fault Easyjet Chrissey, we paid for speedy boarding the first time we flew with them , after that we havn't bothered, all speedy boarding does is group those that have paid for it together and allows them to get on first - they then have their own mad scramble to get on first - only worth paying if you really want a specific seat - i.e. the front ones. We have always managed to sit together, often with three seats between the two of us, last year we even sat with Parson'sgang on the way home - that was seven of us in total. pete.

Hi Chrissey
Just realised you're from North Wales like us. We will be out in Roda for part of the time you are there as well. we are flying from East Midlands this time as the flights were cheaper than Manchester or Liverpool

Hi Folks, sorry I have not posted my holiday review sooner, but I got back from Roda with a bad cold and am just getting head together, Any how here goes:- Easter at the Theodorus, where do I start? Well, with my most impassioned plea to book for next year. It is a treat to experience first hand. As Johno has said we had a dodgy start with Corfu airport closing behind us, switch the lights off as you leave springs to mind. But eventually we pile into a taxi and head north. How come that nothing seems to disturb our equanimity once we set foot on Corfu? We instinctively know that problems will resolve themselves ;D. Arriving at Theodorus bags dropped into room and the party starts, which continued for the whole week waxing and waning like the sun (it did make an occasional appearance). Saturday brought us the cricket team. Who ever said cricket is a staid sport have never met this mad bunch. Drinking like a fish, well a shoal of fish precisely, how they managed to contemplate to play cricket with what must have been raging hangovers beats me. But there they all were Monday morning on the bus to Corfu Town if not exactly bright eyed and bushy tailed. A match on the Liston in prospect. Steve and I accompanied them as official photographer and hanger on (guess which is which ;D). A lovely sunny day, Corfu town looking at its best. Strange seeing Alex and Nikos and son in cricket whites giving the visitors a good run for their money, a whole new side of my Roda friends. Getting back to Theodorus, what can I say about the food. So beautifully cooked by his mum. Every dish laid before us was superb. One meal consisted of 11 (yes 11) separate dishes, if you include the bread, which in Greece you do. Every dish laid before us for the evening meal was Greek cooking at its best as far as I was concerned. Jamie and the new girl Jade providing excellent service, even if sometimes a bit suffering from previous night! As for the weather, well I expected nothing great, which is what I got. Everything from torrential rain to warm sunshine. But it didn't matter, we were determined to have a good time, and a good time was had by all! Such an experience from family Easter meal with Alex (Crusoe's) Sarah and family, candle lighting at St Georges at midnight followed by drinks and nibbles at Pirates. Watching cricket on the Liston. Wandering around a very quiet Roda, so strange, when the sun decided to shine. Pastries and coffee at Skouna and Ilo Ilo in Acharavi. I close my report again with a plea. Try to get out for Easter, experience a side of Roda not usually on show to the visitors, a quieter, calmer, more time to chat, side. I recommend it.
