Looks like you've got the worst deal, Petra. I guess that most countries buy fuel at roughly the same price - the rest is tax. Time to move or buy a donkey Steve

In my area of Bournemouth, average for UL is 92.9p, Diesel 106.9p. Thats about €1.11, and €1.28 respectively. Of course, 10.9% of that is our government pocket money.

Uplyme Service Station is offering UL at 96.9p, and Diesel at 110.9p. Not sure how far it is from you, but about 1.5m from Lyme itself. UK PETROL/DIESEL PRICE UPDATESRegister, and enter your postcode. Gives you the garages near to you in the UK. Yeiamas, Chris

I wrote a strong response to your post, Gail, but it's nothing to with Roda, more to do with Tesco and their stranglehold on spending in the UK. I have now deleted it. When we are in the UK, as a result of spending more time in Roda, we try to support local businesses - butchers, bakers, fishmongers, grocers & others, rather than use major supermarkets. We feel very strongly that this is the best way forward for reasons of health, community and conscience. When you move to Roda, you will find that you will develop a new perspective to 'consumerism' and, for us, that is one of the things that makes Corfu so special. Let's hope that the EU doesn't force Greece to change too quickly!

I actually agree with you but the cost of buying from individual shops here in the uk is laughable. With robert working during the week and the fact that i cannot carry much, never mind from one shop to another,i do myshopping in the supermarket at the weekend when robert can take me and by the way its not tesco,i only went there for the petrol.I only mentioned that if you do your shopping there you get an extra 5p off for the benefit of anyone on the forum who does.

Sorry Gail, the word 'Tesco' hits a nerve with me! We understand what it's like to have to visit several shops instead of just one and, try as we may, we cannot get everything we need from individual traders. We still, reluctantly, spend £30 each week at supermarkets and we still, cynically, suspect every 'special' offer that they make. In Roda, life seems to be so much more straightforward. ;D
