I just don't get why people want to go on holiday & eat things they can get here. But that's just me!

I do like a good old English breakfast to set me up for the day on holiday but then I don't do that at home so it doesn't feel as though I'm eating normal food.
After that it's all Greek

Yeah! I get the breakfast thing, Nikki, cos as you say, it's not what you would normally do at home.
And yeah, Dave, you are a lucky B*****! lol If I was out there staying, I can imagine getting some home comforts would be good. But not just on holiday for a week or a fortnight.
The first year we came on holiday, we had my cousin's brother & sister & law with us (they were from Barnsley) and all they ate for 2 weeks was chicken & chips and I think a roast on the Sunday.

I think that 'choice' has to be the operative word here. If people want to go to Greece and eat British scoff, drink British beer, and generally take Britain with them then fine ...... that's their choice .... definitely not mine !! If they're spending money in the shops and Tavernas in Corfu then great .... as long as it doesn't cut down on the choices for us to enjoy authentic Greek food, drink, and entertainment !!! I personally enjoy a mixture of Greek/ British food. Whatever your choice is, enjoy .... in Roda !!

Jacks that is my argument, why do people go to foreign parts and still demand English food. Johnofish I also agree with you in principal, people have to have a choice so they can make their own mind up. I would never go anywhere and not not try the local cuisine, I've even eaten Scottish:-) Bev

Don't worry too much about eating Italian food in Roda, John, it probably had Greek origins. According to Litsa from Estrella, Pizzas originated in northern Greece.

Actually, John, unless there is someone taking over Estrella, we may be short of a good Italian restaurant this year.

Nothing wrong with eating healthy even when on holiday John that's why after my sliced wholemeal toast first thing in the morning with my black coffee and orange juice I dander down to the Harbour Bar for my eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato, beans, mushrooms, hash browns, bread and butter washed down with a pint of local beer.

I wouldn't dream of buying english food when on holiday, not in Corfu anyway. Don't get me wrong, hubby does like to have at least 1 full english breakfast when away but I'd rather not. We have found some wonderful local stores around the island to buy our food from. We both really enjoy the bread and the olive butter is nice too. I prefer to eat Greek food over english anyday but I can understand why there is a shop selling English food stuff as a lot of people don't like change regardless wether they live there or just for holidays. Its a good business and I am sure it will do well.
