I've no idea about wages, Gail, and the building industry is the one that many immigrants think they can easily tap into. Many of them are not highly skilled although some do find a niche.
I believe that there is a shortage of good people in every job in every country, so a lot would depend on Robert. In my experience, good people always find jobs, but you would have to be here to make the most of your chances. It would be hard to arrange something from the UK to walk straight into. If you can give it some time, you would probably find something.
In the first instance, why not speak to someone like Lisa, at Corfu Forward Planning, who both build & sell properties and employ their own people. If nothing else, she will give you a better idea than we can. Her email address is info@cfp.gr

I had decided that as I was made redundant 2 days before I arrived in Corfu in August that if I didnt find another job I was going to come over for the season next year, tut didnt I just go and get a job....... with the redundancy I wouldnt of HAD to work, but I would have to get the flavour of what its like to work when everyone else is having fun, it must be hard xxx

No idea Petra, but several businesses advertise almost continually and good staff are hard to find - always. In our experience, you need to be here to get any of the jobs as the first good person through the door is appointed. Many of next season's jobs will be arranged in April and several will change again as the season progresses.

I was just asking this because we would like to talk Danny into staying with us in Roda for a longer period too. And I already told him he could stay a few weeks longer to work overthere to get the feeling what it's like... He already worked in a small hotel/ restaurant before. We think it really is a job for him because he is very socially, makes friendships easily and at partys he is the one to tap the beer ( because he doesn't like beer himself and doesn't drink that much either) and he might even be the one the people "look up" (come to, because he is admired by many girls ) So that's good for business too , haha. ;D Maybe Pirates Bar will be reading this post too....

I wouldnt be too optimistic about jobs, especially this summer. Greece is expecting a 20-40 % drop in tourism, so undoubtebly many businesses will shut down...

Lefteris/ Spyros, why so negative? Always look on the bright sight / side of life! And you're not helping the people of Roda by being this negative I think, because the new tourists might read your post and choose another destination, that's not what you want I think...

You know its negativity like this that gets a place a bad name.
