Just had an email from T.C. advertising bargain holidays for next year. Had a look at The Coral hotel for two weeks in June, the price started off at £940 for two adults, by the time i got to the page where i had to pay it had risen to £1107, on top of that i put down to fly from Manchester yet i was quoted from Gatwick. And i was led to believe that only Ryanair did such things. pete.

I haven't yet heard Ryanair say that, John, but I guess others will now claim the same as there is a plan to stop excessive credit card charges which, I think, becomes law in 2014. This is not just airlines - it is everyone.

I'm sure that there are a few more honourable companies, John, and we should support people like Directline, if they are one of them. Unfortunately, the emphasis for most is 'bottom line' and 'shareholders' - all principles seem to be forgotten, as are the needs of their customers.

It will be interesting to see what people report as the total cost of flying with Ryanair, John - £80 certainly sounds horrendous for 20kg of luggage, but I also see that you can fly from Prestwick to Corfu from £17.99. There may be other extras I don't know about, but the total of £98 would still seem to be a good deal overall. What sort of total budget should people be looking at for a flight to Corfu from the UK? At what point does good value change to expensive? It would be good to hear people's views.

We used to pay £240ish with XL (bless them) and even more with T.C. & Monarch, so anything that comes in less than that has got to be good value for money. pete.

We used to fly with Monarch or similar and thought we were getting a good deal if as a family of four we paid less than £900 for return flights. Since flying with Easyjet, and now being a family of five, we haven't paid more than £560 including luggage and any other costs. We managed to get flights for this price by booking as soon as possible after flights coming out and being a little bit flexible on dates, and I don't care how much I paid for the privilege of taking luggage, it was the overall cost that made our decision. No brainer really

Don't joke about the scales for people, sthelenssaint, I think one US airline might already be doing it. If you can't fit into a standard seat and fasten the belt, you will be given the option either to pay for two seats, or leave the flight.

Absolutely spot on Nikki, it doesn't matter how it's made up. it's the final price that matters everytime. pete.
