Just back last night from a beautiful holiday in Roda - dare I say perhaps the best ever.
However, it didnt start too well what with getting an email 2 days prior to departure regarding our taxi! I neednt have worried - a very dear friend stepped into the breach and gave us a lift and even did the same for the return journey even though by then the taxis had just returned to work.
We stayed in Villa Popi - having pushed the boat out and spent a lot more than we normally do on a holiday - we thoroughly enjoyed it and would do it again in a heartbeat - finances willing!
The villa is in a lovely quiet, secluded spot and having a pool to yourselves is a real luxury - we have been totally spoilt for future holidays. The villa has two bedrooms and a huge lounge / dining room / kitchen with an oven/hob, microwave, huge fridge/freezer and even a small dishwasher. Another good touch was that all the doors and windows were fitted with mosquito screens which meant that you could leave doors and windows open to let air circulate without fear of the little critters getting in!
Roda was very HOT but there was a lovely breeze most days around the pool but we were still lathered in factor 30 and as the villa had aircon in both bedrooms and lounge it was always a cool haven to escape to.
Roda and its people and our friends were as we left them last year - lovely, kind, thoughtful and welcoming. We found eating / drinking out very similar in price to previous years - the only difference being the poor exchange rate compared to previous years and the cost of petrol is really frightening at 1.78(ish) per litre.
We attended 2 FGTs and had the pleasure of meeting Andy64 (hope there is a wedding ring found in a fish's stomach!) and Dave&Linda again and meeting Kath (?admiral) for the first time - not forgetting Steve who was as helpful and informative as ever but definitely a little browner.
Having not seen Sara at all last year we saw her and little Spiros and Eva nearly every day this year - what a beautiful little family Alex and Sara have. There was talk around (I think it is common knowledge now) that Alex may be relocating Crusoes for next season to somewhere near Drunken Sailor (opposite Oscars) but I suppose we will have to wait and see.
Will end now before you all fall asleep - oh and Pete - rest assured my eyes remained firmly shut at all times whilst being led by the hand around the village! So no fear of me getting any answers to the riddles!
regards, Kath and the other 3
