Steve do you have any information on a possible taxi driver strike? I have read on another forum that they are out on strike in support of their colleagues in Athens.
regards, Kath.

As far as I know Kath, the taxi drivers' strike is in respect of the numbers of licences issued and is affecting Athens, Thessaloniki & Patra. It is unlikely to reach Roda, but I will ask the question.

Hi Kath, this was taken from the Kathimerini Online Newspaper this morning.
Taxi drivers escalate protest action
Greece's taxi drivers escalated on Tuesday their protest at the government's plans to fully liberalize their sector and lift all restrictions on the number of licenses issued. On the second day of a nation-wide work stoppage, Athens cabbies met at 10 a.m. in front of the Marnis Street headquarters of their union SATA to decide further action and were then planning to drive to Syntagma Square to protest in front of Parliament. In Thessaloniki, police thwarted a motorcade of taxis that was headed to Macedonia Airport, though some 1,000 drivers left their vehicles on the side of the highway leading to the airport and walked into the departure lounge, where they staged a protest. In Patra, cabbies gathered at the port, where they intend to block the exit of passengers from three large cruise ships that are scheduled to dock at the busy Peloponnese port. Prior to its meeting, SATA said that it is not ruling out the possibility of extending the strike through Friday.

People could save some money and take the green bus, only € 3,60 pp!!! and a free sightseeing tour !! OR call one of Roda's carhire businesses to leave a car at the airport, I am sure Loft rent-a-car, Dromeas or NSK will be pleased to fill in the gap...!!!

you cannot get a bus if your flight doesnt arrive in Corfu until 8.30pm - and I wouldnt fancy the walk to the bus station with luggage!

During the Taxi Strike, it has been reported (unconfirmed) that some Car Hire Companies are actually increasing their prices. Is this not a negative response to the strike. I would be inclined to decrease, or make good offers, and get the punters to hire. Profits would be much greater. It is not good in the eyes of the visitor.

We have just received an email from Roda Taxis confirming our pre-booked taxi WILL NOT be at the airport for us tomorrow. Fortunately for us a dear friend has kindly stepped into the breach and offered to pick us up at the airport.
regards, Kath.

for anyone struggling we have booked with A2B Transfers Corfu to Roda 100 Euro for 4 adults and 1 child return. The transfer is with a company called Lord Travel. We have contacted them to see if they are affected by the strikes and they have confirmed they arent.
They did say they may be a slight delay at the airport. Does anyone know if the taxi drivers are blockading any roads etc?
Thanks

When I was there on Friday, there were about six taxis at the end of the airport approach road. I heard that yesterday there were a lot more. Traffic was flowing freely when i was there. I have to go again tomorrow evening - will let you know what we find.

If there's no change in two weeks time think we will just cancel our taxis and book a coach transfer to be on the safe side, ok will mean arriving but least we know we will get there, don't fancy running round the day before trying to convince someone to give us a lift.

Someone said the taxis will be working again tomorrow, but no confirmation and it has been said before. There was no sign of distress at the airport yesterday and everyone seemed to be coping. Every time a flight lands, there is an announcement about the blue bus service running continuously into Corfu Town. Interestingly, someone approached me quietly, he said he had a car, was I waiting for a taxi? But I didn't tell you that, and there is a risk he will be spotted and it raises an important insurance issue. Please be careful.
