Just for fun I typed "roda" into the search engine for Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia. I was disappointed that nothing appeared about a fishing village in the north of Corfu. (when I tried again with "roda corfu greece" I got, "did you mean road corfu greece"! However, what did appear was pretty interesting. Clearly, although "our" Roda is unique, there are other Rodas in the world. Here's what Wikipedia said:
Roda is a village in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. It is part of Khushab Tehsil and lies to the south-west of Khushab city.
Roda Antar (born 12 November 1980 in Freetown, Sierra Leone) is a Lebanese football midfielder who currently plays for 1.FC Köln. Antar is also a member and the captain of the national team of Lebanon.
Röda bönor (A Swedish pun meaning both "red beans" and "red chicks") was a feminist progg band formed in Lund in the mid 1970s. Röda bönor was one of the progg movement's first real girl bands. The lyrics and music were written mainly by the band members. Their most famous song is Oh, Carol. Others include Diskoteksjakt ("Disco-hunt"), Sången om sexualmyterna ("The song of the sexual myths"), Det ska bli very *friendly* person på rumban ("It's the end of the rumba") and Nu har vi tröttnat ("We have now become tired"). They are also known for their interpretation of the italian work song La lega.
The Roda Codex is a medieval manuscript which represents a unique source for details of the 9th century Kingdom of Navarre (Spain) and neighboring principalities.
Roda de Barà is a municipality in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the coast in the east of the comarca. The Roman Via Augusta ran through the municipality, and a triumphal arch survives in the middle of the present N-340 coast road: it is a protected historico-artistic monument.
Roda , meaning "wheel" or, more appropriately in this case, "circle" in Portuguese, is the name given in several Afro-Brazilian art forms, such as Capoeira, Maculelê and Samba de Roda, to the circular formation within which participants perform the art form. By extension, the whole event may be called a roda (as in "We will have a roda next Saturday"). Likewise, sometimes a roda may not take the shape of a circle; it may be, for example, a half-circle if the event is a public performance, in order for the public to be able to see the performers easily.
