Another season is drawing to a close, with many of the late visitors leaving tonight. There are still a few stragglers until Sunday, but we're not sure what will be open for them. The Dolphin is now packing up and Niko's wood for the fire will soon take the place of the tables & chairs. Big Ben is closed, Crusoe's closes tonight, the Afroditi was clearing up this morning, the Drunken Sailor may finish tonight and so may Roda Park. Only NSK stays open until the end & Roxannes and the Corner are still here - just.
Pirate's Bar, certainly, will be with us all-year-round and becomes one of the main venues for the village in the Winter. This year, Nemo will add to the list of winter bars, Smiley's Bar & Mistral will be open, Casanovas opens most evenings, Stella's Bar will be there, Mary's Taverna also, Compass at weekends as is Meraki.
Quite a lot, when you think about it!

We haven't spoken to Adonis at Drosia, but we know he did not open last year. Will catch up with him and let you know.
We forgot about Nino's, they have had new glass fitted at the front and the bar looked very cosy the other night.

Well, folks, we have just been thrown out of Roda Park - the last customers of the year! While it must be a welcome change to adjust to a new winter schedule, we have to say that Kostas had a tear in his eye tonight. He so enjoys the rapport with his customers that he finds it hard to believe that he will not greet and entertain them any more until May of next year. We had to drop the subject while he was still smiling! ;D On a more positive note, don't forget to look at RODA PARK PRESENTS for the last of this year's recipes to keep you warm through the winter. This one brought a tear to my eye too. I can imagine it must take a couple of weeks to remember how to relax when you've worked so hard all summer. Well I hope it doesn't take too long and they can sit back and enjoy the rest of Voula's pregnancy. Best wishes to them all Nikki xx

Hi Nikki
We spoke to Alex from Crusoe's today also and he says that getting back into the swing of a new season is incredibly hard, but he feels such a sense of loss at the end that it takes days to come to terms with it.

... and there's more, Roda Bar.Be.Que has bucked the trend by re-opening - YESTERDAY!
We love the food here and we were sad to see them all closed up about a month ago. However, Spiros, and the charismatic Giorgia are going to open throughout the winter from 13:00 every day.
Across the road our hero ran to find that the new shop 'Penelopi' is also going to stay open all winter and we forgot to mention Benny's Bar will also be open weekends & evenings into the new year.
One observation we made last year was that Roda's catchment area expands in the winter as ex-pats from other northern resorts discover that there is still some life left in the Village. Clearly, most businesses in their own villages stay firmly closed - and anyway, they're not as nice as Roda ;D

Steve That's so sad Steve but not really surprising. These people work so hard but obviously love every minute of it Nikki
