Easter is always a busy time in Roda, and this year there seems to be a greater number of vsitors coming out. Apart from the religious ceremonies surrounding the most important time of the Orthodox calendar, this year in Roda we will have two Dimitri's baptised and a festival. Forgive me for not telling you about the festival but, the truth is that nobody told me and few people in the village actually know about it. None of the organisers have thought to advertise it here and the only one who knew about it today got the date wrong! Whatever, on Easter Monday there will be a village festival with an orchestra, roast lamb, souvlaki and drinks - organised on the beach, I guess! What a shame we could not have been told earlier and people given the chance to come out specially to be in Roda at this very special time. This is the poster I found in Pirates' bar today:

With any luck the festival may still be going when I get to Roda late Monday night. I would love to be there there .

Wish we could be there - it sounds fantastic. I note with interest that Easter in Greece in 2013 is on 5th May. As this is the start of the main holiday season maybe we will make it to Roda for Easter then. Maybe some enterprising airline will be offering cheap flight deals from Glasgow by then. I live in hope !

Great news mrnmrsjack - more people here than I ever remember and more coming in every day. It is without doubt, one of the best times of the year. Bit of rain forecast this weekend, but nothing much and the first for a while. We have a couple of very cold nights though, with snow back on the mainland hills this morning. That too is quite normal.

See my other response Petra - it has been cold at night recently - even in the daytime in the wind, but hot in the sun. The syllogos have told few people about the festival, maybe there is more information of Facebook. There is some confusion now about live music as the band that were supposed to be coming are double booked. Still an orchestra I hope though - weather permitting.

Overhere its the same....winterjacket in the morning, very hot at noon driving in the car behind glass ; then off to work again on my bicycle: wearing my winterjacket ..... outside with the sun shining it's warm but the wind is soooo cold

It has been said that there will be another festival in Roda on Mayday - May 1st being the traditional date for the 'panagyri' in the village. It is yet to be confirmed.

I'm still not sure of the details, but the festival on May Day will be on the beach opposite the Afrodite Hotel. There will be food and a DJ.
