Roda is fortunate to have two reliable taxi companies in the village, Roda Taxi and Alfa Taxi. Both provide quick and straight forward transfers from the airport diect to your accommodation. For many people who travel independently of a tour company, the local taxis have been providing the link between airport and Roda for many years. People who do travel through a tour operator are also discovering the delights of a taxi transfer and are opting to foresake the coach transfer in preference for a local taxi. The main advantages are that - - Your driver is waiting outside of the baggage reclaim area
- You are on your way within minutes of leaving the terminal building, often actually in your room before the coach even leaves the airport
- Fares are fixed to Roda at the start of the season and there are no extras added on, eg. for night-time arrivals etc (44 euros in 2008)
- All taxis are air-conditioned and meet all current European laws
- The driver knows where you are going to
- If you book direct with the local companies, you pay on arrival at your accommodation and nothing in advance
The taxi companies and their drivers believe that your holiday starts at the airport. By booking a taxi transfer, you can be relaxing on the beach, with the children building sandcastle before you can even think about geting hot and uncomfortable on a coach transfer! It is recommended that you book with either Alfa or Roda Taxis in advance rather than leaving it to chance and using one of the airport taxis. Fares can be higher, and need to be negotiated, extras are frequently added on, and the driver doesn't always know where your accommodation is in Roda. So, before you opt in for the coach tranfer for next year's holiday, have a look at booking a local taxi from the village. Roda Taxi and Alfa Taxi are at your service.

Every year, more people are taking advantage of the excellent taxi services to the village. They are realising that, even though they may have paid for a coach transfer as part of their booking, the advantages of leaving the airport promptly and arriving at the door of their apartments in 45 minutes is worth the extra cost, especially if they are travelling at night. It may well be that, in some cases, the cost of a coach transfer can actually be deducted at the time of booking with your holiday company. This would certainly help to offset the cost of a taxi. It is important to say that anyone booking a taxi to the village should do so in advance with a local company. It will be cheaper than a Town-based taxi, your arrival will be expected and the driver will know exactly where you are staying in Roda. The coach transfer times quoted in holiday brochures are optimistically approximate and, with holiday companies trying to consolidate people from more than one flight, departures from the airport can be delayed. This is not peculiar to Corfu, it happens wherever there are package tours. If you only ever do it once, you should try a taxi transfer to see the difference; start enjoying your holiday the minute you leave the airport. To book a taxi to or from Roda click on:

Do you have any idea what they are charging this year?
Regards, Kath.

Hi Kath - nothing confirmed about taxi prices yet, but Roda Taxis have said they expect to be roughly the same as last year - i.e. about 44 euros each way for up to four people and their luggage. There may be a small increase, but it won't be much and, as soon as it's confirmed, we'll let you know.

Hi Jools, i hope you are right but have my doubts, i have checked A2B before and laughed at their prices, just checked again and found this - the prices are for two passengers in june - Airport CFU (Corfu) - Roda 35km/60min 2 Shuttle Bus - £43 return. Airport CFU (Corfu) - Roda 35km/60min 1 Taxi - £154 return.I can imagine the shuttle will not leave the airport untill it is full, who knows what route it will take to Roda ? pete.

Hi jools - the first thing to note about A2B is that they are an international booking agency. They take no responsibility for you or your baggage unless they are in someway implicated. Any problems you might have must be settled with the local transfer company they are using in Corfu.
We have never checked their site before but, it would seem that two people using their shuttle bus in August would actually save about 5 euros total over the fares charged by Roda's taxi companies. Have you booked the shuttle or are you expecting a taxi?
The problem is, the shuttle bus may have to wait at the airport for up to 45 minutes and it will then make several drops en route. What the actual transfer time will be is anyone's guess and it is not guaranteed that the driver will know where to drop you - unless of course you can guide him and he is prepared to listen.
We want to offer Roda's visitors the best possible deal but I believe, all things considered, our two local taxi firms will be hard to beat.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your advice, to be honest it was one of my friends who I am coming on holiday with who mentioned a2b, I hadn't had a look at their website, just had a look now, there's six of us so looking at their prices one thinks a roda taxi may be the better option, I will have to have a word next time I see them. Would it be a good idea to book a roda taxi now for last week in August?. Thanks again everyone just shows how valuable the forum is. joolsdx

Hi Jools, i think by law the taxis can only carry 4 people so you would need two of them - still cheaper than A2B though, if you are going to book one of the village cars it would be as well to book it early rather than wait & then find them all booked up, you will not have to pay untill you use them in august. pete.

a taxi is in my opinion the better and more holiday friendly option . The roda tax driver that works the day shift is top class(the one seen in the pic on the website) and is far more friendly than any UK taxi driver . The price is reasonable considering the local firms in my area want to charge £10 for 3miles i never use taxis in uk unless i have to. I understand people saving ££ due to the current rate etc. We looked at coach transfer this time and it was around £15 or so each for each way so dont save anything. This time around we are having to get a higher car as the people we meet in roda are not able to make it the same week . but I do 110% recomend roda taxis

Another vote for the local taxis here. The first time we used them, the driver stopped at the first shop and went in, he came out with two bottles of ice cold water for us. Not a great expense to him (1.5 euros?) but a nice, and very welcome gesture. I had no hesitation booking one for my wife who was travelling alone back to the airport last year, as I had to leave earlier for the ferry

This year we have booked the A2B shuttle bus from the airport to Roda and it has cost only £10.50 per person both ways .In this econamic climate we sometimes have to make choices that may save us a few quid,Last year we paid £25.00 with Thomas Cook tor coach transfers to the resort. At the end of the day if the day if A2B are c*** we will have to get a taxi

we booked the shuttle bus to save a bit money. Joolsd Thanks Jools I am still confused as to where the great saving is. I have just made a dummy booking through the site and I was quoted for 2 people 10,80 per person one way or 43,20 euros for two, return. This is a massive saving of 0,80 euros against a private ( RODA TAXI), air-conditioned taxi ready to leave the airport when you are. Am I missing something? Julie
