Hiya
We are staying at the Mitsis in Roda at start of Oct, this is our 2nd visit to Corfu and we have never been to the town. I was just wondering is it quite easy to get there and back by bus and the cost? Where would we get the bus and how often are they coming back as we wouldnt like to get stranded. Lol. Also to come back would we manage to find our bus stop quite easy?
Thanks!!

Hi Shell. the local bus does run to Corfu town, the times of the buses are posted at the bus stops. The local bus is quite reliable but i imagine that it might take quite a while to get there & back - not sure of it's route. You could try one of the many coach trips run by all of the travel agencies - they even do an evening visit, or you can also go by boat, a very enjoyable way to get there & back with about 4 hours in the town. Hope this helps. pete. P.S. - don't pay for the trip organised by your tour rep - much cheaper to do it yourself.

If I remember rightly the cost of a ticket to Corfu Town is about €3.50, the trip takes about 1hr 20mins, last bus, from the station, used to leave for Roda at about 4.15pm. Enjoy.

You're right, Bill. Last year the journey cost 3.60 euros - not sure if it has increased. Probably because of fuel costs here now - but still cheap. I have in mind that the first bus gets into Town just after 8:00 am and returns around 11:00 and then the afternoon return is around 4:00 pm. I should know these things really! Shell - from Mitsis, a ten minute walk along the beach brings you to the main bus-stop, just over the bridge by the Afrodite Hotel. The Green buses turn around here before setting off to Town. Once in Corfu Town, most people will head up into San Rocco Square, from where you can go in any direction. The spectacular 'Old Town' is to the left. Tell us what you would like to see in Town and we can point you in the right direction. It is well worth the visit. Steve

If I remember correctly looking at the timetable on the bus shelter opposite the Aphrodite there is also a late bus about 8pm

Hi Shell, my husband and I always use the local bus to get to Corfu, they can be late, the one we caught this year was half an hour late but is still cheaper and better than trips by reps or travel agents. We did one of this our 2nd year and ended up with only 1 and half hours in Corfu Town instead of the 4 hours promised. The last bus leaves Corfu at 4pm but during the season there is one at 8pm. The 4pm is used by a lot of people so be prepared to be pushy otherwise you will be standing all the way back.
