We will never go to the Dolphin again. . After our first visit this year we suspected but were not ceratin that we had been overcharged for the meal by Floyd,Marcus, mark or whatever name he is calling himself at the moment. So on Sunday 12th september we went agai but made anote of the cost of everything we had taking the prices off the menu, when we got the bill we challenged him as we knew immediately that he had overcharged us. He reduced the the bill to what it should be and I gave him a 50 euro note, he gave me the change consisting of 2 notes and a handful of small coins. The result he had shortchanged me, when Icalled him over and said that the change given was wrong he suggested that I had slipped some of the coins in my pocket. After a short exchange he threw a 2 euro coin on the table and walked away. No word of apology at all. So If you eat at the Dolphin make sure you keep a note of your order and carefully check your change or take my advice and don't go there in the first place

Hi, we had the same thng happen at the Mexican restaurant! The first time it happened we could'nt prove it because we were a party of 6, the second time we did the same checked the prices of what we were haveing then when the bill came it was 20 euro to much! We called the waiter over explaind he said it was a mistake by the waiter that served us, he refunded some of the money we complained again and after more excuses he gave us the 20 euro appologised and we left!! NEVER to return. Jilly

I also wondered about the bill in the Mexican, we went for my eldest sons birthday and there were only the three of us, I'm sure the bill came to around 80 euros almost twice as much as most of our other meals. I didnt query it though cos we did have more than normal.

i loved the dolphin, the food was always excellent and not too expensive and the lady that cooks even got in some octopus for my daughter on our second last night, i think we ate there 4 times, in fact i wish i went more often, our only bad meal in roda was at the place just along from it smileys i think its called, it was the greek night and very busy but service and food where both dreadful. was really disappointed cos i had heard so many rave reviews about it.

we have been to roda many times but never had a meal at the dolphin so decided to try it, the service was bad we waited for nearly half an hour for the waiter to take our order (and it wasnt busy)then the food came, what a dissapointment out of the four of us we all left most of it , it was tasteless this is not the general quality of food in roda, at the time we thought that we were overcharged but paid just to get out, talking to a "local" afterwards they said why did you go there it is no good, that says it all.

I really don't agree with this 'naming and shaming ' of business in the village when visitors are unhappy with their bill/meal. The purpose of this site is to promote the village not to close businesses down. (especially when they are one of the oldest in the village.) If you are unhappy with your accomadation, a bar or taverna fine vote with your feet and don't use it again. Thousands of meals are cooked and bills calculated in Roda every season there are bound to be some mistakes. However negative comments such as these will have a big impact on the decisions of people who have never visited the village before and will ultimately damage the named businesses further in an alresdy very difficult time. If they are truly bad or dishonest then they will be eventually found out and pay the consequences.

while this type of practice or mistake has never happened to me ,ithink that anyone who has been subjected to it has a right to make people aware . the forum while promoting roda also should not cover up anything untoward . for example someone asks about accomodation ,forum members give it a glowing report [to promote roda ] when actually it is inferior , that damages the forum and roda sorry roda does have faults but i personally accept them thats why i return but lets not cover them for first time visitors , or it could be only time visitors ,

The forum is about opinions and people will always see things differently.I agree Roda has its faults and these should be out in the open. However I just don't think it is fair to name businesses on a forum such as this. Talk to those responsible directly in the village raising your concerns and leave them to make their choices if they choose wrong then as I said before they will have to take the consequences.

I'm afraid I must disagree with you on this SMG. When you've already spoken to the ''culprit'' and have received no adequate resolution to your complaint I think that 'naming and shaming' is the only way to not only make others aware of the situation but, it may make those responsible think before they try it again !!!!
