Although I still find it hard Steve to believe what the Big Boys say, it maybe true that them buying up the smaller companies will save the industry. However, the same Big Boys do not help by having the monopoly, but at the same time not reducing the prices on a package (as the independent travel deminishes with the purchases of accommodation etc), thus more and more are becoming unable to afford to travel overseas.
If companies like TUI and TC are buying up the smaller companies, and at the same buying their accommodation, and taking other accommodations as you yourself Steve pointed out in an earlier post, then the likes of Easyjet and other flight only companies will have no need to fly to those destinations. Thus the cheaper flight is removed from the equation.

just a wee note about paying extra to ensure you have seats together. a family with children under 16 must be sat together on an airplane by law. so dont pay extra for something that the airline is obliged to do anyway. i have never paid for seats together and guess what me my wife and two daughters have always sat together.
