There is a music festival on the beach on 31st July - 1st August I have seen many posters advertising it around the village it's going to be on the beach in between Acharavi and Alymros. So I hear you can even take your sleeping bags and stay on the beach for the 2 day festival.

Slight amendment to that - Rachel's informant had had a drink or two when he told her - the Music Festival is on the beach at Astrakeri where George runs his boat trips from. Great nights, great atmosphere - just a few minutes drive from Roda.

The people that own the recordshop are such nice people, I have been there a few times now and (of course )they know a lot about greek music ! I posted some of his new songs onto www.rodaonline.ning.com ! look for "petra van w" ;D ;D this one is for you Kaz, it's not a new song, maybe you already heard it before: rodaonline.ning.com/video/giannis-ploutarchos-to-fonazo

Kaz, you were right.....but then in almost every greek song they sing about agapi or s'agapo I didn't find the complete translaton yet, but this is the chorus ... "I shout (to you) I would not "swap" you for anyone else I shout (to you) I love you, In my heart you are The one and only "

This september I will start with my 5th season Kaz...and still for me it´s very difficult to speak greek in sentences. This summer at the beach I tried to `talk´ to Lola from the sunbeds using some greek words... The last few years I have been concentrating on trying to understand greek first. Once I enlarge my vocabulary I think I will have enough courage to start making sentences... First it´s important to understand greek grammar, I am constantly repeating the first lessons of my textbook.... Greek is a very difficult language to learn and you have to have perseverance ! I set my target at 10 years But it´s so much fun once you start to understand some of the conversations in greek!!! Even more when they don´t realise you know what they are talking about ;D !!! Last summer I bought a new studybook while I was in Roda (RodaPark Kosta helped me order it in a bookshop in Corfutown): Ta nea ellinika yia xenous, by University of Thessaloniki, ISBN 978-960-231-037-3. I love this book! It includes a dictionary , all the words used in the book are translated in english (and russian as well . Sometimes this causes hilarity in class, those who do not command the english language mix up words like thread and threat ;D By the way, Kaz , listening to greek music helped/helps me very much as well! I listen to a Corfiot radiostation through internet as well, you might want to try this, it's entertaining and instructive at the same time. Neo Radiofono: www.onradio.gr/LoadMedia.php?id=185If you have radio on your mobile phone look for 97.9 while you are in Roda.
