I have been to san stefanos (NW) with my two girls (14 and 11). Last year it was too quiet there. But I do not want to lose the Greek way of life. I chose Roda this year thinking we would have a bit of both but have I chosen I Greek Blackpool?

Your best bet is to pour yourself a glass of wine, sit back, relax, and browse through the Roda Forum Online for yourself, and make your own mind up. You will find with the exception of ONE or TWO, Roda has anything and everything to suit your tastes, whether one wants Greek or British.
Most will tell you they go for Greek, which in my book tells me that there must be a large number of Greek Tavernas, Restaurants and Bars available. This may mean walking in the opposite direction from the beach, away from the tourist sections, but be assured Greece and Greek is alive and kicking in Roda and Corfu.

Hi montagum - welcome to the forum. If I thought Roda was like Blackpool, I wouldn't be here and neither would most of our regular visitors. Even Sidari is not like Blackpool, catering more for younger people who want clubs & music. Both resorts have regular repeat family business and Roda is by far, the quieter of the two whilst being a little more lively than St Stefanos. Keep an open mind and see if the Roda bug gets you as it did with most of us.

i am really baffled with the comparisions between Roda and Blackpool? we came to Roda for a week last yr and loved the place,so much so we are coming back in Sept for 2 weeks this yr.the place is so relaxed and laid back its a perfect place to get away.sure there is English brekkies and karaokes, but there is also a fair few places to enjoy traditional Greek fare.the locals really go out they re wayl to help and make your stay one you wont forget.i for one cant wait to get back and sit down at the brandy shop with a mythos and watch the world go by.

Like your review craig................don't know why people keep comparing Roda to Blackpool, up there it's cold, windy and FISH N CHIPS.............Roda is laid back, GREEK food (fish n chips if you want it)...warm weather (too hot at times) beautiful sea for swimming (and safe) and if you don't see anything on the menu to your taste and you want to try Greek food, the owners will get that for you and you can have it the next day, nothing too much trouble for them...............glad you are returning craig...we have for the last 23years..so it can't be all bad a??

I hate Blackpool - noise, drunk people, not very nice at all. I love Roda - lovely tavernas, bars, lovely people & a lovely place to be.

I want to make it perfectly clear. I LOVE Roda. It is the only place I have been perfectly relaxed. My references to Blackpool(actually called it Ingoldmells), is the night time entertainment. I don't go to that entertainment in England, I simply loathe Bingo, Karaoke etc. I do appreciate that other people enjoy. That is their choice. I just found it too much, but I do realise people have to make a living. I just wanted something a little different. Again my choice. Anyway I wish everyone Happy Holidays and all my friends and the locals a very good summer. Due to circumstance changes, we will not be back and I am already missing Roda.

Most of us feel just like you Craig and the Brandy Shop is just the place to relax. It is very popular this year.

My husband and myself fell in love with Roda about 12 years ago and have been visiting there every year since. (sometimes twice a year). We don't like the tribute shows, karaoke or British pubs, so what do we do? WE DON'T GO IN that's what. There are more than enough Greek tavernas where you can sit and have a chat with all the lovely Greek friends you have made. JackieM

Bev, sorry to hear that due to circumstance change you will not be back to Roda. I hope this is a temporary situation and that you can return someday. I find it (personally) very sad when I hear of someone who obviously would like to return, can't. If it's not too painful why not become a Member of the Forum?? The Forum is essentially an information centre, I think those boots have become too small. As with the village itself, this place offers friendship and support..... not an agony aunt... but ...... we're here. I think I may speak for all forum members.... don't go away!! You may not be able to go to Roda, why not let Roda come to you through the Forum. Best wishes Johno...... and I think Friends
