This last picture is confusing - it looks so much like Roda except for the two story building to the right of Pangalos and the hill in the right foreground - that looks more like Messongi, but I don't remember Messongi having a stone jetty. The hills in the background look perfect for Roda with Episkepsi to the right ... I really can't say which.
Has anyone please got any idea of how to contact or speak to any British locals in Roda? I know this is very much a shot in the dark as I've never done anything like this before and feel a little silly. I am so curious to know if my first teenage holiday romance with a local Greek lad in 1995 is still around the area. His name was Nikos, he told me his surname was Aspiotis. He must be nearing or around 40 years of age now. First love and would love to know what he looks like now and what became of him, etc etc....I had a photo of us together but my ex husband made me rip it up. My memory is fading regarding his looks, like it does, I do remember he was the most handsome young man I ever clapped eyes on and just would love to be reminded properly.
Hi Shel, not silly at all. I'll ask around over the next few days & let you know what I find out. I know quite a few Nikos but not all their surnames. Who knows, I might even be able to get a photo for you! pete.
Aspiotis is a surname you often come across here, Shel, but I know of no local familes by that name. I guess that most of them originate from the tiny village of Aspioti on the east of the island. We need to ask a local Greek - do you know if Nikos worked here, and where?

Hi Shel I'm pretty sure you are talking about the owner of Yummies who has the same name. He is also known in the village for his Greek dancing which he used to do with his brother before they started their own businesses.
He is, as you say, very nice looking (ssh don't tell Mike), very friendly and around that age. Unfortunately though he is married to an English lady and they have young children.
He can be found on facebook should you wish to have a sneaky peak
