I was wondering what places are offering wireless interent access this year and what the charges are. My teenage son will be miserable without MSN for the whole 14 days??? I was thinking about bringing over the laptop. Oh yes and any advice on whether we need to pack it or can carry it on as hand luggage will be gratefully received.

Hi Debbie, Aphrodite has always had internet while we have been there. Last year Kosmas had an internet setup. Don't know charges sorry. If bringing laptop, my sons always carry as hand luggage. Hope this helps a little. Petra is probably a ggod one to ask with her son being there last year. Bev.

Hi Debbie, Pirates Bar also Internet Access, this area is situated in a rear lounge area to the left of the bar not sure about wireless though, charges are posted next to machines. Yes take the laptop as hand luggage much safer.

Hi Debbie - there are a few places with internet access and several more with WiFi. To be honest, I am not sure of all those with pay-as-you-go computers, but Pirates' Bar certainly has them and I think the charge is 2.50 for 30 minutes. Not too sure - will check and come back. WiFi is avaliable in many places, Pirates', Smileys, Tropicana, Harbour Bar, Theodoros, Mistral, Nemo?, Oscars I think, Nino's, Brandy Shop and so on ...

Hi Debbie, I don´t know about British companies, but if you fly by charter from Holland or Germany, you can bring your laptop EXTRA as handluggage and it's free. Maybe the "lowcost" airlines will charge you (not sure). But I would certainly not pack my laptop. I bought a special "rucksack"(I think that's the word you use in english, must be a german word )where I can put my laptop in. About internet access, Steve already mentioned Theodoros/Fionas. My son worked there last summer and everyday he used Theo's wireless internet f.i. to talk to me on skype. I remember him sitting by the swimmingpool and I could see him through his webcam, enjoying the sun .You should "warn" your son that Greek internet is not working the way he is used to in UK (or Holland in our case). Last summer RodaPark Kosta allowed me to use his internet connection while we stayed at Pipitsa's. This summer I can stay in my appartement if I want to ,because Pipitsa now offers free wireless internet access for her customers. She was also planning to buy some laptops to use ,for those customers that didn't bring their laptop with them. greets, petra

Personally I can, at a stretch, understand someone in business or having a family crisis taking a lap-top on holiday to keep in touch but I thought the whole idea of a holiday was to take a break from the day to day turmoil back home and what a sad reflection on our children when they can't go on holiday without a computer fix. I go for the sun sea sand and relaxation and maybe I will live a littel longer.

Holidays are for doing exactly what you want. It's probably the only time of the year we get this privilege. Whether it's sunbathing, eating, drinking, traveling about or going on your lap top, do what you enjoy most and have an enjoyable holiday everyone. Luv Jan X

Ahh but my son is leaving his lovely girlfriend of six months at home and will want to be in touch with her, We usually do without technology, including our phones on our ROda holidays, but I certainly dont want a moody teenager on my hands when a a half hour conversation each night will make him pleasant to be with lol x I am so excited cos my ticker is showing 1 month to RODA!!!

You're very wise Debbie. Last time we were in Roda we allowed our daughter a 5 min phone call each night to her boyfriend using my mobile phone ( also to stop the moody moaning). We got quite a shock when we got my mobile phone bill!!! Luv Jan X

Debbie and Jan, you are so right - about 5 years ago my daughter was besotted with her then boyfriend and you wouldnt believe the size of the mobile bill she ran up - it brought tears to my eyes ! She is now a ?mature? 24 year old and is very careful with her money and doesnt take her mobile on holiday so she cannot be tempted to run up an expensive bill.
regards, Kath.

If you don't go on the Internet whilst on holiday, how will you keep up-to-date with the Forum ? (We'll talk about YOU 'cause we know when you're there !!!)

Debbie, advice your son and his girlfriend to def. install `Skype`on both their computers before leaving for Corfu. It's free!! This way they can chat or talk and SEE (if you bring a webcam) each other as much as they want.... and I guess he will not complain about anything anymore This way I kept in contact with my 17 year old (at the time) when he went to Corfu for workexperience for 10 weeks , on his own! I think it's wonderful to have this on your computer , I even talked to my father (who is in his seventies) through skype when on holidays.... had to ignore him sometimes haha, because every time I logged in, he tried to call me.
