hi frodo, good luck with all those teens my two are 12 and 16. The forum is really good, am not nervous about going now (well, apart from the bit where i have to go on a plane!) I have been trying to learn some greek phrases as its only polite but i think my greek with a scottish hint will possibly cause more confusion than anything else :-)

I have found that good morning/evening, please and thank you are nice to know. Most of the business owners speak better English than my two teenagers!!! The kids taking a friend seemed a good idea at the time. Never mind at least they will amuse each other. I've already bagged the bathroom first each day. I'll meet them in the village when the girls are ready. ;D

Frodo, don't worry about Greek with a Scots accent, it can actually help at times. As for being mis-understood...... I've been at it for years, as long as you smile when you try a new phrase/word the message seems to get through !

Don't think that all trips are the same - they are governed by profits just like everything else. The worst value will usually be the tour company ones but, even amongst the local village travel offices, there is a a huge variation in quality. I will not name names, but let's say that the cheapest are not always the best. The trip titles may be the same, but the content is often very different.

Hi Tartanannie, My husband and I are staying at the Elizabeth too. We leave Manchester evening of 5th July and get there early hours oh the 6th. I'm sure you'll love the place. The apartments are typical of Greece, basic but clean. The pool, bar and grounds are beautiful. They are family run, and they can't do enough for you. We've stayed there on and off for the past ten years with our children. They've always had a ball and made loads of friends. Loads of people return to the Elizabeth year after year. This year we'll be on our own! Won't know what to do with our selves. Hope to bump into you while you're there or at one of the forums. Luv Jan X

Hi tartanannie I'M sure you will like the Elizabeth appartments, this september will be our 20th year staying there so there must be something good about them. Our three children have been with us numerous times and we have always thought it the safest place we have been. the appartments are typicalley greek quite basic but all there, if you do have any problems just see Helen or one of the others and they will sort it out for you. As has been mentioned before the pool and the grounds are kept in really good order. there are lots of trips to go on you ought to try and get to Corfu town quite an interesting place to visit, If you can afford to hire a car for a couple of days it is well worth it just to travel around and see some of this lovely island. The people wherever you go on the island are so friendly. I'm sure you will like Roda,Corfu and the people

Oh, you're going the same day as me! You're flying from Edinburgh though, aren't you? I'm going from Glasgow.
There's quite a lot of people from here, going to be there, over the next few weeks, so you must join us at one of the FGTs & introduce yourself!

That's great Tartanannie. I'm going with my family next Saturday and it would be lovely to meet you at the FGT the following Wednesday.
I've been going to Roda for 16 years and obviously love the place but since this forum was formed it's made holidays even more enjoyable for me.
See you in Roda ;D Nikki
