Hello all, Im new 2 this forum. I have found it this morning wile waiting for the people to come and move us from Roda to Sidari. We arived yesterday after being assurd that their was no building nearby as my wife has assma and it is suitable 4 peeps with walking difficultys. When we got here we couldnt get to our appartment unaided because of the building materials piled all over the place and kerbs to high for us to clime. The place is like an enourmouse building site. A mess, so we are being moved to sidari along with many others. They said it should be finished soon but its no good 2 us as we will b gone by then. I dont think i will ever b returning to corfu ever again after this.

That's such a shame David! Roda is such a beautiful place. I know a few people who are disabled but manage to get around Roda OK. It's unfortunate the relaying of the pavements hasn't been finished yet. I would't give up on Corfu or Roda though, you'd be really missing out. Hope you enjoy the rest of your holiday. Luv Jan X

I too am sorry to hear of your predicament David, but at the same time I do not see how on your first visit to Corfu, within one day you decide you will not come to Corfu again, yet you are going to stay for the duration of your holiday.
There is so much information that can be sought by everyone prior to coming on holiday. Such as checking ones location, searching the websites, of which there are many, reading the Travel Agents Gazzetter, the bible that gives information on what is happeing within a resort. It use to be no access to the public, but this has changed now.
In my opinion, no one should arrive on holiday to be met by such matters without prior notification. However, although we say enjoy your holiday in Sidari, and that we appreciate you have be met with a dilemma, please do not put Corfu at the bottom of your list of holiday destinations, without sampling what other facilities, fun, sun sea and sand one can have. Have a good holiday, and report back to us on your return home.

David, you mention in your post you were assured there wasn't any building going on; I assume it was your tour operator or travel agent that gave you this assurance. Maybe it's them who have let you down, not Roda or Corfu. This site and others that promote Roda and Corfu have talked exhaustivley over the past few months about the improvements being made to the village. This is why it's a good idea for people to research their holiday destination prior to booking. Luv Jan X

Not a very good first impression for new visitors to Roda - lets hope the work is finished soon especially for any more first time visitors to get a good impression of the place we all love.
regards, Kath.

What apartments were you supposed to be staying in, in Roda, John? Can't think what hotel/apartment would be in such a big upheaval from any building works.
You should take this up with the travel company.

which apartments were you in? we are in Roda at the moment and whilst there are ongoing roadworks, the area isn't that dusty - though this could be as we are three weeks on. the only road which appears to be badly effected is the road that runs from the compass resteraunt down to the beach passed silver beach.
