There are a lot of negative people about, and every time some improvement starts, the prophets of doom & gloom come out of the woodwork. The latest focus for all their whingeing are the road improvements on the main beach road. The last few days has seen lots of steady rain making the site a bit like a scene from WW1, but there is always something to smile about. The first step in the improvements is to lay large surface water drainage pipes along the length of the road & down to the sea. For a few days this means that the businesses along the road are somewhat 'detached' from the street. With typical Greek ingenuity, a variety of 'temporary' measures are being taken to ensure that customers can still make an entrance. Today, we witnessed Kostas from Mistral extending the hand of welcome to a lady customer whose legs had gone shakey half-way across his drawbridge when it started to wobble. She probably needed an extra drink when she finally reached her destination! ;D - now that's what I call enterprise. If only they'd had pallets in the Wild West! I'm waiting to see the first tightrope appear ;D ;D
