Chris Those pictures were absolutley fantastic!!!!
I would never have imagined so much wildlife existed in one place.
You must have used a lot of film and had lots of patience to take those pictures.
thanks for sharing them with us.

Is the snake in the first post known as the Montpellier Snake, prevalent to the Mediteranean, in particular eastern areas including Corfu.
My post was taken from the You Tube listings as an addition to the thread to show what creepies can be found on the island. Sadly to say not my work if I am to be honest.

Here's the magnificient Swallowtail Butterfly, caught on our video camera (in fact one of the first films we took) in Eftichia's garden in 2008.
Always makes me think of those summer days in Roda.

Maybe this year we will run a series of photos of 'critters' that we have found here. Many of the ones shown we have pics of already. We have never seen a scorpion and we still need to identify the 'beetle'? that is on the wild mastic plants that line the roads to Spiros No1 and Roda Beach. We have always hesitated to look at this subject because we know many people find it difficult. What do you think? Steve

Brilliant series. I have a six DVD package of the original series starring Brian Blessed as Spiro, and Hannah Gordon as Mrs Durrell. Far better than the version made a couple of years back. We often sit down of an evening and view all the DVDs. Gives that bit of Corfu out of season, so to speak.

Well you will need to feed something, Andrea, when Petra has her jaws wired up for the summer! ;D
By the way, do you remember Lola? The white dog with the scary pale blue Husky eyes? She had four puppies today, three are white, and the other one will lead the doggy police to the natural father! ;D

Hi Steve I don't think I saw Lola ( and I'm sure i would have remembered if I had from your description of her, ha ha), but i will look out for her this year if she's not to busy raising her family. She can share Petra's pork chop... erm i mean lettuce leaf. Andrea

Lola is Eftichia's dog, kaz, and she will be very well cared for. We'll take some photos when we can. Locals do tend to care for stray dogs, particularly out of season, and I am not aware of a single dog in the village at the moment. The biggest problem these animals have is that they have no idea where all the 'kind' people who fed them during the summer have disappeared to. One day we will write about it.

Hi kaz - as far as I can see it, my cousin was guilty of abuse. The dogs over here have one other great advantage - freedom. The only ones you ever see locked in cars, left in the house or out being walked on a lead are those belonging to ex-pats. All the others are free spirits and, usually, extraordinarily healthy. This is Petra doing what she likes best & Lola, our new mother, chasing lizards. Steve

Thanks for the lovely pictures Steve. Now I know what Lola looks like I will keep an eye out and give her a pat when I see her. Petra looks in her glory Andrea
