It seems that our small extremes of weather are minor by comparison with most of northern Europe. People living here often have a joke or two about the difference between the two, but now there is real concern and an avid interest in the daily conditions across Europe. In Greece, the main issue of concern are stormy seas and yesterday's TV reported the dangerous state of the sea wall on that narrow stretch of road by the Kaiser Bridge. With strong south-easterlies forecast again tomorrow, the situation is critical. In Roda, the three ships sheltering in the bay have moved on, the seaweed on the road has been cleared by the council and Sam has started to repair his jetty. We had one day when it was forecast to be 30C, but the temperatures are rising again now and it is quite mild.

Hi Julie and Seve, We seem to be having some extremes of weather over here in the U.K. Last night the temperature was down to minus 18 degrees in places. Where I live in North Shields it was minus 4 at 9.00 this morning with approx 6 inches of snow. So what's all this about global warming. ?. Brian. Brian.

I won't comment on the temperatures/weather here in Ireland we've had for the last three weeks - except to say I have changed my name to Nanook of the North and am thanking whoever it is who came up with thermal vests! Managed to get out twice in that time - and have never been so frightened in my life. As Roscommon has now used the little grit we had and no more on the way we won't be going out again any time soon.

Yes, it's bad in Kent - we're in Tunbridge Wells - but not as bad as some parts of the country. I'm looking out at the garden now...snow is 30cm deep (1 foot for you oldies!). Got to fiht our way through it later for a trip to the dentist...our teeth will do the chattering!
Just been watching news on TV...some mad souls breaking the ice in Hyde Park for a dip in the Serpentine...bet you haven't had to do that yet for your daily dip Steve!

Not too bad hear in Bournemouth. When the snow first came it missed the town completely regardless of the forecast. However, the next day it came down, and settled at about 1-2 inches in places. The problem has been of the following two days where the temps have been very low, and now the paths and roads are like ice rinks. No sign of warming, and there is more snow on the way.
Have managed to get hold of some rock salt and grit, and spread on the communal pathways to the flats and houses as we have a number of elderly living within. Knocked on a few doors and took shopping lists and used the 4x4 to get to the shops etc for them, as well as ourselves. Mind you my Doctor did tell me off yesterday as I have problems of my own, including a chest infection. I wrap up well. This is nothing down here compared to 63.
Keep warm everyone, and check on the elderly neighbours and relatives.

Just read on Facebook that the weather is bad in Roda aswell at the moment. Lucy from HolidayWash just reported a satellite dish `flying` down the streets of Roda.

And I was led to believe that Dish smashing was not permitted anymore in resorts, because of Health and Safety........haha..... ;D ;D
Still another very cold day here, but have done my chores. But the local Refuse collectors have refused to venture out again. Four weeks of rubbish waiting for them.
