Hi. I would like some recommendations for supermarkets. There seem to be so many in Roda but it would be helpful to know which stock the most variety and are the best value. Please let me know where they are also. Thanks.

Hi Kat, there are no supermarkets as we know them in the u.k. but there are quite a few mini markets dotted around the village, they all sell fresh bread, milk, water and most of the "essentials" that people have to have, price wise there is very little between any of them - just a few cents here & there, i tend to use the one nearest to where I'm staying - it's usually to hot to carry water pop etc too far. If you intend to do your own catering there are a couple of large supermarkets in Acharavi, just down the road but you would need a car or a taxi to get there & back with any amount of shopping. Hope this helps. Pete.

Hi Kat, tell us where you are staying and we'll point out the nearest supermarkets. We stayed for two months out of season without a car and we shopped for everything in the village. We were short of nothing and the little extra we paid was more than offset by the cost of driving to Acharavi.

Thanks. We are staying at Fionas this time but have been to Roda 3 times before. I realise there are mini-markets all over the village but just wondered where people would suggest is the best. We found that most items do differ by only a few cents but if someone knows of somewhere that is generally cheaper all round then that would be helpful.

Hi Kat, we stay at the Kosmas and tend to use the market that is just passed the crossroads heading towards Sidari. Same side as Kosmas. It has everything you need at reasonable prices, lovely staff and even will give you a refund on empties(they did last year). Plenty of cold beers of different brands, also other cold drinks. For the closest to Fiona/Theodores is Angelas market.

Hi Kat,
When me and my friend lived in Roda we lived at Marili apartments inbetween Theo's and Elizabeth Apartments we used to do most of our shopping at Angelas market and found the majority of things we needed, if we wanted more of a variety we used to go to Acharavi to Dimitra Markets but there is everything you could need for a holiday located in Angelas or any of the other mini markets located around Roda.

Unfortunately, when Nikos went off to run his ecofarm, Angela's market closed. The most comprehensive mini-markets are Alfa, opposite Loft Car Hire, Takis, opposite Roda Stop, Spiros Banos by Sam's Boats, Mediterranean Corner behind Nino's & GP Family Supermarket opposite Afroditi. There are several others.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what it was called. It was just when Julie & Steve mentioned that Nikos had went off to run his ecofarm - I wonder if it was the same Nikos.
That was a great supermarket - I hope it's still opened. They only done it up inside, just last year, didn't they?

Hi Jacks! We have just returned from Roda (shame!), and Nicos mini-market, by the Elenitsa apartments, was open for business as usual. JackieM

Not sure if it's the same Nikos or not.....the one from the Supermarket we are referring to also has apartments facing Elenitsa. We stayed in them many years ago.
You're right Jackie, it was done up last year, they did away with the butchers shop and extended the supermarket.

Confusion! When I read about 'Angela' supermarket between Theo and Elizabeth - I thought of Niko's (he of the ecofarm) supermarket, 'Nymfes', which was part of the 'Angelina' apartments. You are correct, Niko from Niko's Apartments also has a supermarket called 'Angela' which is most definitely still open and is next to Elenitsa apartments in the centre of the village.
