We are staying in Acharavi 14th Aug for 2 weeks. Plan to visit Roda a few times while we are there. Heard its not too far to walk. Really enjoy Greek food. Anyone recommend a good restaurant? And I always try to find Pastitsio, not many seem to cook it. Went to Stalis last year, only found one restaurant that did it. Any good bars or restaurants you can mention appreciated. Yammas!

Hi Wendy, welcome to the forum, i can honestly say that i've never had a bad meal in any of the restaurants or bars, have a look at what other members think in the "roda business section" of this site where there are numerous reviews of all the different places. pete.

Hi Wendy, welcome to the forum from me too! Pastitio is my favourite too, I had it a few years ago (when I was staying in Acharavi but visited Roda as well) at Smileys, the restaurant at the beach, the one with the roof terrace . It tasted very good that's why I still remember!! And RodaPark-restaurant makes Pastitio as well, the recipe is on their website: www.rodaparkpresents.com Are you coming to stay in Roda next time? Greetings from Petra .

Welcome to the forum, Wendy, - you may be right about 'pastitsio' as most of what you see is pastitsada. We will keep our eyes peeled over the next few days and see where you might get it.

:)hi everyone, talking about good restaurants...roda has a few very good ones, my favorite is drossia, typical greek food in a greek taverna, right on the main road, after the crossroad. Then u can have a look at roda park, costas and voula know to make u feel at home new port, opa, dolphin... Go for typical corfiot plate, u wont regret it...have a good holiday...

There are many good places to eat in Roda, the Drossia is really good, the food is cooked on a charcoal grill and sometimes you can get some greens which I do miss after a few weeks in Roda. Opa is also excellent and I like to Dolphin for fish. In the best places to eat the food is homemade and it does make a difference.

Wendy, the walk from Acharavi to Roda takes no time at all, it is lovely if you walk along the beach to Roda.
In all the years I have been going to Roda including a summer living there I have never had a bad meal. My favourite restaurant has to be Newport but they all do fantastic cuisine.

I agree with Rachael, the walk from Acharavi to Roda along the beach is glorious, we used to walk from roda to Valentines in Acharavi such a lovely restaurant but sadly no longer there.
Our favourite restaurant used to be King Hearted Place when the lovely George worked there but now we've discovered OPA, fantastic food, overlooking the sea, and I hear George is working there now, sadly we will not be able to come to Roda this year, so the forum is my little piece of Roda heaven.

Susie,
It's a shame you won't make it out this year, at least the forum will keep you updated with any news from Roda

Our fave restaurant during our recent visit was Drosia, the food is really really good and the young waiter lad, who I believe runs the place is excellent.
If you're a meat lover then Drosia is the place to go...and the meals are generous in size it's excellent...and I will be forever greatful to him for taking me home after my meal last friday when the thunderstorm knocked out all the electricity in Roda.
He insisted on driving me back to our apartments even though we were just based @ the Melinda about 80-100 yards away lol.
And yeah ...seperately the walk along the coastal path between Roda and Acharavi is wonderful and set against a backdrop of stunning scenery we walked down the main street right @ the bottom and walked all the way along to 'Gelina Village' before heading back...before the rain and thunderstorm actually began.

Drosia is very popular and open throughout the year - and the lad's name? - Adonis.

It was a southerly blow and when I passed Roda Garden Village that morning I thought -'those parasols won't last!' When I came back, some of them were lying in the sea with their legs in the air and someone from the apartments was trying to fish them out! Should have called for Peter's assistance! ;D
