It has been announced that the ban on taking liquids through UK airports could be lifted by the end of next year. Trialled at Manchester Airport, ‘Real-time Tomography Scanners’ can identify explosive liquids in hand or hold luggage. Government approval is still needed, but passengers at Manchester found no problems with the system.

Hi Steve, on the local t.v. news last night it said that the limit of 100mls would still apply but that with the new machines you could leave the bottles in your hand luggage instead of having to transfer them into the see - through clear plastic bags at passport control, and that they hoped this would cut the waiting time by 30%. Will let you know on Monday what is actually happening. pete.
