I wonder if there is a live Greek music bar in or near Roda? Please excuse title spelling, it's many years and pre-children since we have been to one as they are usually only getting warmed up when we would have to retire for the evening and they are mostly used by locals when they have finished work. We had our first taste in Zakynthos many moons ago when we arrived late, tired and thirsty met some locals who took us cross country, seemed like fields of sunflowers and all sorts, could have been murdered, but of course being Greece we weren't, but that started the love affair with Greece, it's people and everything, and the worry beads (komboloee) I was given that night by our very elderly traveling companion ensured we were smitten and still hang in our kitchen, faded but treasured. We would love the children to experience, at least one night like this, as they now have more staying power, possibly more than us! thanks in advance. Mari x

Hi Mari - I need to speak to someone before confirming this, but one bar owner told me a few weeks ago that he was bringing in a top bazouki player from Corfu Town to play one night a week in Roda. I can't confirm who it is until I check it out again. You have raised a good point - there are lots of Greek nights in Roda, but we do need a typical bazouki night as well. We will see what we can do.
By the way, that's quite a story - I can see why you love Greece and its people!

Would be great if you can find a Greek music night. I love the bouzouki. Will make a nice difference to some of the entertainment on offer. ;D Bev

I'm not sure when everyone is coming to Roda but, I've spoken to the people at the bar again and the bazouki night is still planned. Much depends on cost and the number of visitors. At this early part of the season, it would not pay to stage such a night, but as numbers increase, the situation will be reviewed. We'll keep asking ...

Yiasou Steve and Julie, any news on bouzouki night yet. Would love to have more of a Greek experience when we get there. Bev.

The bazouki music is still at the planning stage - it all depends on numbers. The recession in northern Europe is inevitably producing less visitors this year. Numbers are increasing and more acts are appearing each week.
